Heth Washington Elementary is a Great School. The teachers are Number 1 on my list, They go way be on the call of duty. They watch the students in their work, if one is falling behind they give the extra help they are needing. If a Parent such as my self does not understand something they are the first to jump in and say here is how we do it. I like that,, My Grand daughter is new there this year and she loves it to.. It is the School her father and Uncle went to. You Go Heth Washington Elementary!!!

We have the best teachers but, our academics needs a boost, and we have no extracurricular programs. The art and music is put on the bottom of the list, it was once pronnonced as a babysitting service not needed.I was very upset with the choice of words. Our kids need these classes as well as the academic programs. We have a great parent involvement, we have atleast 5-10 parents each day at the school to help. The PTO is awesome and we are always trying to improve for the children. The teachers are 100% active with the PTO and our children and up for any new challenges.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
