My sister attend this school and unfortunately got into some trouble with a teacher. The girl was a model student until this incident but the school turned their back on her and favored the teacher because it is hard to get teachers. I also attended this school and after graduating I was very unprepared for college. Most of the teachers do not seem to care, they only want to get their pay. My suggestion is to go elsewhere.

I think that SVHS does a remarkable job of teaching kids. The school cannot be blamed if the child does not want to participate. I feel that everyone from the pprincipal to the teachers truly care about my child's education, and welcome parental involvement. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of safety concerns. I was visiting recently and witnessed some harassment, including some directed at me, a parent. There needs to be more supervisory involvement in the hallways, especially while changing classes. PS, SVHS is a blessing after dealing with SVMS. Now that is a terrible school.

They do nothing at all? So when certain instances happen and when the teachers respond as quickly and orderly as possible assuring the students are safe and out of the way of harm such as insuring lock downs and blocking hallways to keep from other students getting involved makes this school horrible? High school is generally designed to prepare its students for college, if you plan to attend you'll see that colleges will expect much more out of their students and you will be thankful your english teacher and phyics teachers gave you so much homework. They're trying to be as helpful as possible to make sure state requirements are met and so that the students get out what they put into it.

I think that some of the teachers could be better, but then I love some of the teachers. I really like the assistant principal.

It seems that most teachers at SVHS are decent and well-meaning. There are a few that just don't care about any of the students, other than than the students that have someone of import as a parent. The kids that really need help usually don't get much, and then it's just enough to let the teacher 'get by'. Some teachers are very rude to the students, and they treat them very badly. It is no longer safe there, as they don't enforce many rules, nor do they care to. It must take too much effort. It's clear that SVHS doesn't pay much attention to most of their students...only the ones they can get something from. They pretty much ignore the others. I'm very disappointed with SVHS.

I was a 2006 graduate from South Vermillion and I think it was an excellent school all in all. The teachers really care about you and most of them do a lot of one on one. If it wasn't for those teachers pushing me and letting me know I could do it I probably would have dropped out. But thanks to teachers like Mr. Wright it makes a big difference. The school also has a lot to offer not only in sports but also for prepping you for college and your future jobs. The only bad thing is the principals push the dress code and what you are doing more than they do your grades.

I think that SVHS was a great school for me to attend. I graduated from SVHS in 2006 and it was a great school when i was there. I had class with the four best teachers in the school (Mrs. Clark, Mr. Wright, Mr. Scioldo, and Miss Dishon) These teachers taught me a lot and they also taught me very well. If it wasn't for SVHS i would not be attending college. Don't get me wrong, there are some bad teachers. All in all it was an experience of a lifetime.

We are currently students at SVHS and think that our school has some good qualties and some bad. Student to teacher ratio is very high. In some instances we do not get the one-on-one attention that people need. Our art department could be alot better. However, our science and math departments are half way decent. Student involvement is high but little school spirit.
