Oak Hill High School is the closest thing to private that you will find in Indiana. I graduated in a class of 147 students. All of the teachers knew my name. The English, Literature and Speech classes were very good. The Math and Science departments were exceptional. Who am I kidding? OHHS has to be one of the best places to attend high school in the USA. The teachers made the effort to personalize teaching toward each student. That's very rare these days. I'm just thankful to each and every person at OHHS for helping make me the person that I am today. The biggest things that I took away from OHHS was #1 learning to network. #2 critical decision making skills. Yes, two of the most important skill sets that any employee/ professional can have. I learned that at OHHS! As a person, you become like the people that you spend a lot of time with on a daily basis. OHHS and the community are all quality people. Everyone should be proud of this school system. It is truly one of the last good ones!

and I appreciated that. They have very great core class teachers some of the teachers who you could chose if you had to have werent that great. There atheletics were very well taken care of and very important, but so was there debate team, drama club etc. I can't say they prepared me for college though because they really didn't. I think they could work on making sure each student is prepared with there small classes they should have no problem when tution is 2500 a year. The school outside and inside is very up to date and very charming. It is a great school to attend if you as a parent wants to be very involved if not I wouldn't recommend sending your child here. Get involved or get out should be there motto!!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the End-of-Course (ECA) assessment to test students in middle and high school in Algebra I, Biology I, and English 10. The ECA is a criterion-referenced assessment developed specifically for students completing their instruction in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
