This is our first year (1st grade) at Solon and I'm thrilled to be part of this wonderful community of teachers and parents. We moved to CP so my children could attent a four star school. Our teacher is knowledgeable, fair, fun and loving. She gives constant encouragement and praise! Coming into Solon my daughter was advanced. Solon enriches her and always keeps her busy so she is never bored. If I could, I would give the school an A++++++++++.

As best as could be expected for a town this size. Rated as 4 stars by the state of Indiana this year...not something to be sniffed at.

I think this school is great. The before and after school care program is excellent also.

Solon Robinson sets very high standards for their students and they have a very good record. However I believe that they put too much pressure on the students. The curriculum has math jumping around, I can't possible see that is conducive to a child's learning The also believe in clustering the desk, tell me how that is not distracting to the children. They are very good when it comes to music, art and extracurricular activities. Solon encourages parent involvement.

my children are at solon school. The teachers at Solon work with her and with the help of a tutor she was able to fine her place and know she is in the 5th grade with good grades, my son is in kindergarten, when he started this year he wouldn't speak to anyone, know with the help from his teacher he opening up to people and leaning to read, things I didn't think he know, the teacher brought them out of him and he loves learning and telling his family all about his day. My husband and I are happy that we brought them to this school.

Solon is a great school. My daughter has attended for 3 years now and every teacher she has had is wonderful. The teachers are caring and very hard working. I know this because last year I volunteered to help a teacher. It's truly amazing how much work they do for our children. I think every teacher should have a volunteer helper. It would make their days less complicated.

Our family is very pleased with the school. Our daughter has been attending the school 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. We have loved all of the teachers. They are caring. They challenge the students. Our daughter loved being able to participate in the opera in 3rd grade. She has now been accepted into the gifted and talented program which starts in the fall. I have spoken with other students who are in the program and they all only have good things to say about it. We have never had a problem at the school and most of the families that we have met are very friendly.

Both of my children went to this school at one time two years ago. This is the worst school i've ever been in. The principal have no involment with the children unless they are in trouble. I do not recommand this school.

Solon Robinson has everything! Great concerned teachers, Outstanding Principal, friendly families. The music program is fabulous. The gym teacher is truly concerned with the kids health. Each teacher we have had K-3 has gone above and beyond. Kids are pushed hard, but the results are amazing. I can't say enough, I am truly pleased and hope all my children will get the opportunity to attend all 7 years.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
