I find it interesting that in the post in September, the parent repeatedly uses incorrect punctuation, grammar, etc. This parent blames everyone but herself for child not being up to par. It is absurd that a teacher should "catch" a child up. My child should not suffer because all of a teacher's time is devoted to a single student. A child does not become five grades behind overnight. If this parent would have taken responsibility for their own child's education, she would not be complaining now and doing her child a huge disservice. It is the teacher's jb to present the information and our job as parents to reinforce it and work with our child until they understand it. If our child is still struggling, than we make an appointment with the teacher, after school hours, to figure out how to help our child. We do this immediately, not wait years.

I am a single mother and I have nothing but trouble with this school I fight with the teacher all the time. no one seems to care my son is five grades behind the teacher don't even try to catch him up. my son has a disability and everyone there seem to believe my son is stupid and all they will give him is cerficate instead of trying to get him regular high school diploma. my son's doctor told me he is very smart. I can't wait put him in public school online. this school is bad if he have a child with a disability no one seems to cares if they ever get ahead my son is five grades behind but no one cares. my son's teacher is keeping him in first grade again this year he has been in first grade for 7 years and my son's doctor is very mad about this but they refuse to do anything about it.

I only have experience with the 6th and 7th grade teams, but the teachers are lovely. They truly enjoy using their team prep time to find the best ways to engage the students and discuss where things can be improved. The best thing a parent can do is spend time working with the school and the teacher for a fuller academic experience for their child.

I have two daughters that go to Wheeler and they just love it! One daughter has joined Track and fully enjoys the coaches and the great facility. My other daughter has built great relationships with her teachers and can't imagine going anywhere else. We are thrilled with the response times of the teachers or principal when there is a question or concern. Teachers truly love their job and the students reflect that. Could not ask for a better experience!

This school is terrible. The teachers have an attitude and are very immature. The teachers are way to nosy and always want to get into your business. They are very bad at explaining projects to the students. The teachers make fun of your child in class. they embarrass them. The women teachers are the cruelest. The teachers are not helpful at all. Although it is a brand new facility the staff is horrible. Every project I get it causes problems at home.

Have had nothing but problems with this school. This is my second child in this school and hate it. I know a ton of other parents who have problems with this school. It is not about the child here, but about funding and faculty.

The facility is new but the staff is a team of experienced professionals. My two sons love the atmosphere of learning and are being well prepared.

This school is the best. I reccomend this school to anyone. It is also brand new. It has a lot of library books. There is a ton of computers in the library. It is the best school ever. I love this school better any of the other schools I have been. The teachers are so nice and caring. I have awesome 7th grade teachers. If you plan on moving, move to Crown Point, Indiana. Trust me you will love it. It is the best school.

About the tests

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
