The reviews about the computer networking class are spot on. My issue is with the main instructor. She is extremely rude to every student. No one dares ask a question because they will be yelled at. In the computer networking class we had to fill out a course evaluation. Most of the questions had to do with the teacher's performance. While taking this evaluation the teacher would sit down next each student individually and observe the answers they put down and in some instances comment on them. This was not right. I reported this and was told because it was a course eval not a teacher eval it didn't matter. Don't take this computer networking class.
As a student at the EACC, I find the Computer Networking class very unsatisfactory. The instructors are about 10 years behind in their knowledge on modern technology, and are extremely rude to their students. These instructors play god; what they say and think is always correct, even if they are blatantly wrong. If you have a child with any learning, or social disability, such as Autism, DO NOT enroll your student in this class. We have a slightly autistic individual in our class, and they do not know how to properly manage these types of disabilities. Instead, they yell at him, kick him out of the room, or will intentionally pick arguments with him. They have effectively made him want to quit schooling altogether. I consider that bullying. This course is designed to make you fail. They bog you down with more work than you can handle, and that's not even the course related work. Be prepared. You will have to redo any paper if you get any answer wrong. You can not turn in a paper with a wrong answer fora grade. You are also not allowed to work on actual CISCO coursework until all other work is completed. two of every tan people might get there certification. Be warned.
Beware the computer networking class. They lure you in with fancy high dollar show computers and a smile. They promise you the opportunity to obtain industry recognized certifications and college credits. The instructors seem nice and polite during the open house and even show an interest in prospective students... It's all a mask though. Those fancy computers you saw during the open house. Think you're going to get to build one? Think again... Those certifications and college credits? Maybe two out of every 15 students will even finish the basic curriculum. The instructors? Well... They are a good decade or so behind in their own knowledge and education regarding computers and networking. As a previous reviewer stated "These instructors play god" they're always correct, even when they're wrong. They are incredibly rude and passive aggressively bully several students. Oh, but if there is another school coming though for a tour, the put on their masks and become courteous and welcoming professionals. Personally, if you're thinking about attending the computer networking class, I would recommend the robotics class next door instead.
This is the best thing that my daughter's school has done for my child!! Placing her in the Elkhart Area Career Center has given her the opportunity to realize that she can be whatever she chooses to be!! Thanks EACC!
