Francis Joseph Reitz High School

i have to say that I am very proud of how well this school is, they students are more mature, and less fights break out here, there is rarely any bullying.

Sitting high atop the tallest hill in Evansville, Indiana, you'll quickly find more than just an exceptional view at F.J. Reitz highschool. The students themselves seem to demonstrate a similarly exalted perspective on life and their education at Reitz. With an undefeated football team seemingly destined to win state again for the second time since 2007, the school offers programs of excellence for every talent and interest imaginable. It is truly my privilege to have my son enrolled at my alma mater, under many of the same educators and even a few of my old school friends among the exceptional staff. This school has an unbreakable spirit, especially considering the epic tragedy it endured out of my sophomore class. What we survived was every bit as unthinkable as Columbine, garnering the attention of the national media, but we bounced back, found our center, and now our children are carrying on that resilience and fortitude. This school doesn't just deserve to win, but it has proven time and again that it knows how to take twenty grand and get five times as much good out of it. Despite budget cuts nationwide, F.J. Reitz high school has maintained its commitment to providing the kind of enrichment and access to programs that are being eliminated in their entirety across all the districts. Fine arts, speech and debate, academic olympics, trade and industry, future farmers and horticultural arts; these are just a few of the student organizations that are thriving at Reitz with a level of excellence comparable even to our athletics programs, and a football team ranked third in the state. Our school is so much bigger than the bricks and mortar bearing its name. It has the unfailing support of its alumni, staff, and community, all of whom are dedicated to picking up the enormous slack of an ever-shrinking shortage of state funding for education. To walk the hallowed halls up on that hill one would assume she was visiting a private institution, because that is the quality we have come to expect out of our school, and what is delivered consistently year after year. We recognize better than any school in this city, and even among the state, that this kind of achievement is only possible through the continued commitment of our entire west side community. We share this sense of pride and duty with our sister school, the smaller but equally impressive Mater Dei Catholic high school. Around here, the west side is irrefutably the best side, no question about it. It is an honor to have the opportunity to seek some much deserved recognition on its behalf. Please consider F.J. Reitz high school, with its enduring tradition of excellence apparent everywhere you look, as a serious candidate for America's Favorite School. We have long held the respect and admiration of our great state. It is time for the nation to see that Reitz has earned that privileged distinction with much more than a superior geographical advantage. We should all look up to this school and take a lesson from those who remain tirelessly committed to its continued success. We love our history here at Reitz High, and every treasured memory from the majestic Reitz Bowl, that was carved right from the hill's grand basin looking out onto the Ohio River and greater Evansville, IN. Nothing compares to the glory of Evansville's sun setting behind the spectacular Reitz Hill. Reitz may hold court high above its subjects, however, it leads all others with grace and humility, through nothing less than the best of examples.

I think that Reitz high school is the the bast high school that I have ever been to. And i have been to 3 of them. I like this school because the staff pays attention to you. And I don't have any problems with the other students. I really like this school. I wouldn't want to go to any other one.

Reitz is the BEST High School in the city and one of the best in the state. They have added several programs in leadership, service to community and improving academic performance (drop and read/MLA writing in ALL classes, etc)...the principal is always challenging kids and teachers to do their best. The school is safe...fights rarely happen and kids are respectful and tolerant...bullying is also rare at Reitz...their athletic programs are outstanding and their counselors and teachers genuinely care about the kids that go to this school. You cannot find a better public high school experience...they have been rated highly in reviews by North Central and High Schools That Work, which are organizations that rate and review what they're doing in the school...it's the best school in the EVSC and I'd bet it's one of the best in the STATE.

Reitz High School is the best school in the city of Evansville.they consistently score higher than all other public high schools in the city across the board academically and their extra curricular programs are excellent as well. They continually strive to improve and are innovative leaders in introducing new methods to improve stuendt learning and comprehension.

Im a 2005 Reitz Grad and I think it's an excellent hs to attend. They have great teachers who really know how to do their jobs and know how to do them well. Also, if extra curricular activites are your thing than you will excel at Reitz. I have so many great memories from the basketball and football games that i will always remember.I feel its a true honor that I can say that Im a Reitz grad, and Im confident that your child will feel the sameway!

I'm a 2003 F.J. Reitz Grad and I may be partial but Reitz High School is great! I appriciated going to Reitz, I saw it more as a privilege that not everyone gets to be a part of. The band is great! The sports programs and extra curricular activities are well appriciated and commended. Memories of football and basketball games are memories that I will always remember. The teachers have to be the best in the state and really care about their students! I don't really know anyone that says that they hated their experience at Reitz. I consider it an honor to be a Reitz grad and I'm sure your Son/Daughter will feel the same.
