We selected this school for four main reasons: 1) Small class sizes (with additional staffing if class size gets larger) 2) Spanish language starts in Kindergarten 3) Exposure to string instruments start in second grade 4) Supports our religious values (we are Christian but not Lutheran) Our daughter loves to go to school every day - and we love that she continues to have a love for learning. You can't beat that!

When you enroll your student, you really become part of the Emmaus family (and we are not Lutheran). There are many activities that involve the whole family (one of our favorites is Family Sports Night) that you will get to know many of the other parents and most all of the staff very well. The classes are small so your child will receive much more individualized attention. And students have much more opportunities in almost all areas. Music (including band and strings) and foreign languages start in the lower elementary grades. And students have the opportunity to play sports and/or cheer-leading starting in the fourth grade -- and the coaches are EXCELLENT with the kids. This school welcomes families of all faiths. We are not a Lutheran family, but the emphasis on Christian values has been very helpful in our son's spiritual development. The sports teams, for example, pray before and after every game. We are so fortunate to have this available in our community, and I would encourage ANYONE to take advantage of the OPEN HOUSES and talk to other Emmaus parents.

I absolutely love this school! the teachers and staff genuinely care about the students. The principal greats everyone at the front door every day. The teachers and parents develop wonderful caring relationships all centering around the students. The istep scores are high - in fact, this year, the 6th grade class scored straight 100s! the school offers volleyball, soccer, basketball, and track (grades 4-8) and tumbling for the younger students in the spring. Band and string instruction is available. The school has recently acquired a new keyboard music program. Spanish is taught in all grades. I love this school!

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
