We love Blackhawk because my children enjoy going to school everyday.
We have 3 children in this great school system and they have all benefited from the ethics, morals, and academics. Our children's confidence has risen significantly since their enrollment in Blackhawk. The financial sacrifice has been well worth it. We LOVE this School. GO Braves! :)
I am a single parent with 4 children attending BCS. I have been more than pleased with teachers and the quality of education they are receiving at BCS. Many teachers and administration have been excellent role models for my children. When I became a single parent the teachers and administration at the school were very supportive and loving. Partnering with BCS in educating my children has been the best thing I could have done. It is a great sacrifice financially to have 4 children at BCS because I'm disabled but it is well worth every sacrifice. It isn't perfect but no school is. For us it has been a huge blessing.
I'm a student at this school and let me tell you I was disappointed with the bad review. my response to the review just because we are a christian school doesn't mean we don't have are own share of problems all schools have problems. but I guess since we're a christian school we're supposed to be perfect like brain washed zombies. I love this school and it makes me mad when people bad mouth it.
This school is one of the best in allen county (fort wayne area)! the facilities are super. The teachers are professional and loving. The administration is strong yet gracious! we could not be more pleased. It is a sacrifice to send our children to a non-public school. But it is absolutely worth the sacrifice. We would not consider any other school. We are committed to providing an education that is christian to our children. Blackhawk christian is distinctively christian and has partnered with us to help our children develop a worldview consistent with god's word! if you live in fort wayne, and want a school that supports your christian values/worldview, blackhawk christian is the place!
We have put three children through BCS from Kindergarten on up. Two have graduated and one is enjoying yet another solid year. It is an immense sacrifice to do this, yet we obviously believe in the value of our investment. We found one of the other 'reviews' disturbing but not surprising. The school is not meant to be a replacement for the family, but an extension of it. We have found that generally, the philosophy and policies at BCS reflect our own. We do not expect BCS to raise our kids the way the government schools think they should. Our children have gotten an excellent education at BCS.
This school has problems like any other school, especially because people look at it as a 'reform school' for their kids who get kicked out of public schools. But, Blackhawk opens its arms to those kids that are viewed as 'problem kids' at other schools. That has its negatives, but my 3 children have gotten a top notch education and are very far ahead of their college peers. The wonderful, lasting relationships and work ethic ideals they've gained in their 34 combined years at Blackhawk are seen as invaluable. The teachers here care about their students on a personal level. It's a wonderful place if your child is willing to be there!
My rating on the school is very low. The principal had no idea what was going on under his own nose. The cheating problem was out of control. Substance abuse was a growing problem that Longbrake did not want to deal with or chose to ignore. Even though this was supposed to be a christian school, ethics, morality, and simple christians truths were not being upheld. Of course, there were the few exceptions in the school -- I can recall a few teachers that were top notch. But there were those who chose to have their favorites or turn their heads and look the other way. Academically, the school was perhaps slightly above public school. The advantage they had over public was the student to teacher ratio. As for culturally diverse, they made no attempt to teach other cultures, and it is primarily a white school. Our child graduated 98.
