Timothy L. Johnson is making great strides in improving the quality of education that they provide the students enrolled there. I have two children that are enrolled there, and work very closely with their teachers to make sure that they are being challenged and are reaching there full potential. The school does not have enough(any) extracurricular programs, and needs a full time music and art program, but I am confident that they will implement those programs as soon as funding is available. With the new charter school opening, and the loss of some funding it will be more difficult to achieve those goals as quickly, but the small class size, and individual attention that my children recieve, along with my involvement as well as many other parents will increase the quality of the academic programs, and thus the overall performance of the students.
TLJA provides a substandard education to its students. The faculty lacks experience and necessary creditentials. The administration is useless and the students are out of control. Only a small percentage of the student body passed the ISTEP exam.
I would not recommend this school to any parent! There are no real academic standards and the staff seems too stressed out to be effective. In addition, the students are out of control and there is not enough information about classroom management. There are not enough books and no activities for the kids to participate in.
My son is a former student of TLJA. I was very disappointed about his experience at the Academy. He is behind in his academics because of his time spent at TLJA. In addition, the atmosphere is chaotic and distracting due to the large number of behavior problems.
