I went to Price Elementary school as an intern for IPFW. I liked the set-up of the school, it was very well-kept and clean for its age and I was able to find my way around. I heard mixed things about the principal. Like any other any other school, you have your good and bad kids. I had very negative experiences from the teachers. Most acted like they didn't want to be there, or just yelled at their students. For parents sending your kids here, just get a feel of what your child's teacher is like before they are fully enrolled. I shook my head in shame when the interventionist lady blamed the fact that Northside and Southside were failing on the teachers at Homestead and Carroll.

Neither myself nor my child liked this school. The teacher was very negative and my child would tense up every time she walked into class. I would not recommend this school.

My son attends Price's Special Needs Preschool and I am just astonded!! Just within the 8 months he was there for the school year he has improved greatly. The teachers are great, they are loving, nuturing all the while teaching them and improving their devolpment. They really go by what they therapists tell them carryout through the week. I would suggest this class to anyone that has children that have devolpmental delays or any other problem that needs special attention. The class itself has improved all our lives because we know can understand what our son wants and needs, because he for the most part can tell us or sign to us what it is. Im looking forward to next year to see how much more he will improve!!

My daughter just finished her kindergarten year at Price and I couldn't say more good about the school and her teacher. They have a great PTA and there is lots of parent involvement. My daughter loved going to school and learned and grew a lot this past year.

I have one child at this school and my other child will be starting there in fall 2005. One of the best schools that I have seen. Open communication between parents and teachers. Teachers are patient, fair, and take no nonsense.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
