We have been a part of the Lincoln community for a total of 7 years (oldest to youngest.) Love the safe environment, academic focus, and high expectations. Teachers are very focused on making sure all the students reach their goals. New principal this year and it's a fresh change. The students could benefit from a more active parent group in the PTA.
I would not reccomend this school to anyone who has a special needs child. My child was there for two days and I pulled her out. First of all if your child is a car rider it is a mess for drop off and pick up. I have to walk my kid in each day and there was no where to park, and also was told that I couldn't after the first two days of school even though I told the staff over and over that my child has special needs. The majority of the staff was rude and not good with answering questions. I felt like the school was not safe, one person attending approximatly 40 kids outside at drop off in the morning, I saw little kids standing off the sidewalk, no one paying attention to them. When I pulled my child out the second day I asked to talk to the principle first, and he was busy. I left a message for him to please call me, he never did. The reseptionist called the classroom for my child, I waited 5 minutes, she still wasn't there so I walked down the hall looking for her. I found her alone, looking scared because she had no idea how to get to the office (mind you she has special needs) I'm wondering why somebody didn't show her. Needless to say, she will not be going back.
We really like this school. Seem to be a pretty positive place for our kids. Most of the parents are active with kids. Would like to see a program in place for academically gifted.
The staff at Lincoln Elementary are very wonderful and caring people, I'm proud to have my child attend this school.
Lincoln Elementary has been and continues to be an excellent school for my children to attend. All 3 of my children have been going there since kindergarten. The staff and teacher have been absolutely wonderful. I have nothing but praise for Lincoln and their caring staff. My children will have fond memories of their elementary school! Lincoln Elementary deserves an A+++++
The staff at Lincoln is the best. I can't think of a more derserving school!
I have 3 children. 1 has gone all the way through and I have the other 2 there now. I think the teachers and staff are great. They work so well with the children. My youngest started there last year and she had such a hard time going to school at first. Her teacher and many others working at the school worked with her and helped her through it. Now she is in 1st grade and she loves it!!
My daughter has attended Lincoln Elem since Kindergarten. We are VERY happy with the education she has received. The staff is very caring and high standard people!
My son went to Lincoln and it was a very dissapointing experience. His teacher never addressed the bullying that went on (neither did the principal). My son is [now] in a new (and higher rated) school district. He is an honor student and has been elected to his high school student council. His teacher [at Lincoln] had the attitude 'I've been teaching for twenty years' and was condescending to us a[s] parents. She comtinually made us feel as if we did not know anything about educating children (Masters Degree here).
I really like this school and so does my son. We are moving and I really want to stay in this school area but it is hard to find an affordable home. It is one of the best in the area. The teacher and staff are really great. I would keep my kid here the whole time he is in school if I could. They do a great job at teaching and being involved and involving the parents.
I have a child that attends Lincoln. He has been there for 3 yrs now. The principal there is a joke. He is very fake, and the only thing he is worried about is his own kids. The teachers there some of them has lost there sight on teaching, and there are some there that are awesome. I also feel coming from the south where public education is free no book fees. I come to Lincoln they tell me about all the book fees, and most of the student can't even take these books home to even study because they share books with other student in that particular grade! I am outrage with such. They say 'No child left behind'. If Fort Wayne Community is a public school raise taxes on something else make education free. This would acutally apply to the state of Indiana.
I have put two children through Lincoln. And I am not too impressed. Some of the teachers are absolutely wonderful and some have really lost their focus. I hear many positive comments about the administration, but in my 6 years at Lincoln I have not been too impressed. The principal does seem friendly, however if you have an issue I am made to feel that it is not important and also feel very rushed! And I am always told how big the school is in relation too anything that happens here. Quite frankly if my child has a problem I feel it should be taken seriously and not made to felt inadequate. Both of my children are always on the honor roll and are very well behaved children. They should feel important. Too much focus on children that have behavioral problems.
My son has went to Lincoln k-5. I think this school is great. I think you will have problems in all schools no matter where you take your kids.
Lincoln has an excellent principal who really cares about the kids. Some of the teachers are better than others, as they are everywhere. If you sit down with them in order to let them know you are interested in helping them with your child, they are great.
My son is a kindergarden student at Lincoln. I have found that as far as Fort Wayne Community Schools go, this is one of the better ones. The principal is very good. He is straight forward and student oriented. I like his approach to education. On the other hand, the one thing I think this school needs, and most schools in Indiana, is full time kindergarten. Early intervention is the key to ensuring success. As far as extracurricular activities I think this school needs more. Academically I would rate the school as average. I wish the class sizes were smaller to allow more individual attention.
I have two kids that go to lincoln definatley not by my choice! They will be better off somewhere else. Please do not send your kids here! This will be ther last year I allow them to go here. The teachers and staff I have encountered act as if they have no control over the students. They definatley are not concerend if your kid passes or fails. They do not try to help the students and yhe contact the parents when it is too late! If you want your kids to have an education this is not the school to get one at!
I think Lincoln Elementary is one of the better schools in the Fort Wayne area. The problem with most parents is that they expect the teachers to do all of the training and not have to shoulder any of the responsibility themselves. You get out of something what you put into it.
I wish this school would let you know how your student is doing more often. The answers you get from the teachers are vague and for parents that are involved with their children's education, this is disheartening. My daughter is in Kindergarten and having a hard time learning how to recognize words and sounds of letters. I work with her at home and have talked to her teacher but there doesn't seem to be alot of feedback on what to do to better her education. I wonder sometimes if she really looks at her students as individuals, or as just another student. I want my kids to do well, not just get by. I want them to understand not just learn for the moment to reach the next grade. I'm not so sure this happens here with all of the teachers.
I wish My children didn't go to this school. I have two children enrolled there and they hate it to. My oldest daughter just went into 6th grade from there and still has trouble with her multiplication. The bus driver yells at them for no reason. The principal hardly ever returns phone calls. This school should be closed down.
kids have fun here and there is a great staff. better athletes than washington center. won so much more awards than them on field day. Great principal....kids love him. Very good teachers. Got my childs grades up as she got older.
