North Side HS offers an excellent music program for students interested in band. I have been honored to have a child in the NSHS marching band for 4 years in a row.

I am a parent of 2 NSHS graduates and a current senior and sophomore. They have had a wonderful experience at North Side. The diversity at the school has served them well. Although at times, they have complained about some of the behaviors at the school, both college kids recently told me that knowing how to work with people from all socio economic groups as well as cultures has given them opportunities in their choosen field of studies that would not otherwise be possible. They are in very competitve fields and are 'mixing it up' with the best and brightest from around the world. Chuck Deford is an outstanding Principal. The music and athletic opportunities are great with dedicated booster groups. The guidance office has several programs in place to help the kids apply and become accepted to the top colleges in the nation.

North Side High School has many problems, but at the top of the list is a major lack of communication between the office staff. As a former student, I was disappointed that they delayed sending out my college transcripts! After many of my fellow students had received their acceptance letters, I called in and after about 3 weeks of talking back and forth, they discovered that they misfiled them. As a result, I was denied admission to my first 2 choices for colleges. They did apologize, but it was too late. The good attributes about this school is that it is diverse and does provide interesting opportunities for students of both genders and all races, religions, nationalities, sexual orientations, disabilities and backgrounds.

Northside is an excellent school starting with the principal how he knows every single students name is beyond me but impressive to say the least to see such involvement the teachers truly care about their students and are encouraging the school is ran in a fun but disiplined manner and the only thing i would change is the enrollment process the office staff is rude unorganized and had i left the school with that first impression my child wouldnt have attended northside thank goodness i gave it a second chance

My daughter loves it here. It's a large school with a diverse population. North Side keeps parents up to date on their student's academic progress, which is a real help to me.

I have 3 kids in this school right now, one in Special Education classes and the other two are A-B students with college aspirations. I have encouraged the older two to put forth their own efforts to get the information that they need regarding scholarships, applications, etc. They have shown a great deal of initiative in this respect since their desire to attend college outweighs their desire to go on MySpace or whatever when they are on the internet. They have initiated appointments with their guidance counselors. I help with whatever they can't do on their own but it has been amazing to see what they can do. My Special Ed student, a sophomore, will probably not achieve the grades or self-discipline to attend college. I would love to see the Guidance dept help identify potential jobs or avenues for employment for kids like her.

I am a student at North Side. I participate in several extra-curricular activities, and I enjoy myself while at school. The teachers care about the students, and, for the most part, are there anytime any of us need help. I'm so glad I'm at NSHS. I wouldn't give it up for anything.
