I am an 8th grader at Northwood. Ive been there all my years. I can honestly say it's the best school. The teachers are really nice. We also have extra help for students failing or falling behind in classes. We have study tables almost everyday after school. My 3 years are Nothwood has been worth it.

I have an 8th grader and a 6th grader both of whom are high honors and gifted students. The staff have really done a a lot to see that both of them receive enrichment in all classes.

Second year at Northwood for my son. 6th grade went well, teachers involved, reports on progress came regularly. 7th grade seems like another school all together. (test scores reflect 7th graders drop) I've had to have my son's teachers initial his planner daily in an attempt to have feedback on progress/problems. He is to note daily classwork, homework, and projects due at a later date. I've asked each for comments if he's falling behind in any class. I get little to no response beyond initialing whatever my son writes. So imagine my surprise when mid2nd term reports show D's in math and language. I was told, he's not a problem student so he's kinda under the radar. Edline updates are few and far between and hard to decipher. School website rarely updated. As a working widower it's hard to stay on top of things. Plan to be proactive with Northwood's teachers.

I think that it is great that Northwood has an International Parent Teacher Association, I believe that that is a great program for the parents of different countries to be able to communicate with the teachers!

I think that some of the teachers are very involved with helping the children develop into productive young adults. I have 2 children, one currently in Northwood. If I had a choice my second child would not have gone to Northwood.

This would be a good school to send your children to, that is if you don't mind them being bullied. They do seem to want to take care of children that are being bullied.

I agree about outstanding PTSA - needs more parents to be involved. Principal was just named Indiana PTA Outstanding Principal of the Year, a well deserved honor. Teachers are dedicated and pretty much all of them take on a special project to help students or to provide sports. Typical middle school problems are handled as they arise. Students have much to choose from and those who take advantage do better.
