I left West Side after my freshman year and moved out of the state. Before this, I thought West Side was "the place to be", but now I just think its "the place to be, if you don't have anything better to do." Since leaving this school I have come so much farther in my academic endeavours, and I feel sorry for the people that are still there. I never knew there was so much to learn and so many opportunities for my future before I left this school. The only good thing that I can say about it is that I had some really great friends there, but, honestly, I didn't learn anything until I left.

I am a sophomore at West Side High School. The school is not not as bad as you may think. There are many people who care about our grades and the enviroment we are in. The main problem I think West Side has is being a little bit too strict and it needs to be a little bit cleaner. West Side is the best side!!!

This school is good for those who need somewhere to go everyday but for those that want to be something out life i wouldnt recommend this school or any other gary indiana public school because they do not do what they are supposed to do. They are there to be accounted for and to get paid.

I beleive that west side is the best high school ever. It has the best sports program and the best teachers, it might not have enough security but that is the school system fault not the school.'Class of 2011'

I attended West Side and graduated from in 1989 and now I have a daughter who is a freshman there now. A lot has changed from then to now. The teachers were very good and didn't have any problems answering questions or assisting when a child doesn't understand. This is my daughter's first year at WS and what I have found is a lot not all of the teachers are willing to go that extra mile to make sure the students are understanding their assignments. All the children at WS are not problem children and should not be treated as if the were. I am a involved parent who cares. I am also concerned with the safety measures at WS. I don't think there is enough security to keep the students safe. Overall I don't think WS is a bad school but I do see room for improvement in those

West Side is a great school- academically and with sports. The GT -gifted and talented- program is also a major contribution towards West Side's excellence.

I think West Side high School is the worst school in the State of Indiana. Yes, I go to West Side, just because we live in Gary, Indiana. This Shool Is not safe at all for any child to attend. This school does not have any extracurricular activites that interset every race in that school. There is also no parent or teacher involvement at West Side. The Academic programs are lacking every where, math and english. The problem with this is the Istep+ scores are lower every year. This shchool needs better teachers who want to teach students. And also Teachers try to use better materials whwn teaching so that the students may learn better.

West Side High School is the best high school in Gary. Unlike places such as Emerson that focus more on a lofty ideal they call talent, or other places that violence consumes daily, West Side is making strides in the right direction. There are unlimited possibilities for children that WANT to learn. If you are one of the parents that would like to overhaul the teachers and administration, take a careful look at your child to find the true source of the problem. I think I have the credentials to say it is the fault of the students for not learning because I too graduated from West Side High School in 2003 and I am going to one of the best 4-year institutions in the country on full scholarship...oh, it's not need based either. Administration is great, teachers care for those students that care and that is that.

With a child in West Side, I feel that administration should have an overhaul. They have been there since the school opened. These teachers have an old way of teaching our children and should go back to school to learn how to teach our children. Get new and younger teachers who better understand our children.
