Mildly speaking, I gave Grissom Elementary, a one star rating because it is simply 'too cold' to give it anything less. I have hated this school since my daughter entered Kindergarten, and now she is currently in the 5th grade. 'Hate' is a strong word that I do not use often, so unless I don't mean it, I don't say it. If asked specifically by what I mean, I will address all the issues in detail. Believe me, there's enough to certainly address. And I speak my mind freely. I am educated and feel that the majority of the children there, are undereducated, except in subjects that they shouldn't know anything about. In addition, there's a huge lack of concern, not only by the teachers and staff, but also by most of the parents. It's not only the school, it's the comsumption of dysfunctional family backgrounds in it's entirety.

We've only been in this school 1 quarter, but thus far I am disappointed. There is zero parent-teacher communication unless I force the issue. My daughter's IEP is not being followed and there seems to be a casual air regarding LRE needs in general. NO real effort being exerted for my child's special needs. We were bused to another local school last year due to over crowding and an unwillingness to hire more staff. Instead of leaving them there they made them switch to Grissom, thus making the children have 3 schools in 3 years-much to their detriment. Between a LONG list of issues with Longfellow last year, and our experiences so far this year I am desperately hoping to be out of Lake Ridge by end of next summer.

Trying to explain anything to anyone at the school is like talking to a brick wall, they don't wanna hear it and would rather do it there way and not give the parents any say so in anything they do. This has got to be the worst school ive ever seen in dealing with kids and parents. They push judgement out on anyone and everyone. I will be moving my kids out of grissom for sure

I am trying so hard to get my children out this School District and the area. I really hope the best for our new principle this will be her second year. We don't keep principle's very long. I am an involved parent academically, am there for my children and I am still continuously making sure my children are getting the education they deserve. To the parents that don't know your rights, Grissom can not hold your report cards because you owe book rental!! Good luck to all the Parents.

Terrible programs..They don't work with your children..The best remedy for them is to suspend them..

I have 3 children that attended Grissom. Each one of them received a quality education. There were a few problems in the past, but with the new prinicpal they have now I think this school can be one of the best around.
