Prairie Vista is a remarkable school! The staff and teachers are exceptional in not only educational apptitude but also with communication between home and school. I have had five children in three of PHM elementary schools and I have to say that PV is the best in every aspect. One may also want to know that this school had an actual prairie that they maintain for the benefits of the students and community bringing nature into the classroom. I feel my childrens education has been outstanding and would recommend this school to anyone I know....

I am not in love with PV. Free thinking is not accepted here. You must conform. All the kids are expected to act like stepford children. I'd like to see a little more creativity from the staff and faculty. My children have excelled at PV. Although, they have complained of not being challenged. Unfortunately, this is one of the best schools in the area. Best of a bad bunch.

A great school which encourages parent involvement (also grandparent involvement). Curriculum is great, also offers after school care, 3 playgrounds, nature trails, basketball and play areas, soccer fields, and tennis courts, and walking paths from neighborhoods. A+

Prairie vista is a good school, however, there is A LOT OF CLICKING WITH THE PARENTS! Some of the teachers are involved in this behavior and go out with these parents! It is not ethical behavior, and lots of favoritism goes on. Other than that it is a wonderful school, if certain teachers would just refrain from this behavior and certain parents would not encourage their children to form clicks, it would be the best school ever.

PV is a highly progressive elementary school that continuously attempts to implement new and improved methods into their curriculum. Parents wishing to push their children to the limits should find this school to their liking. If you're interested in allowing your kid to be a kid you may wish to reconsider. Daily homework can reach 2 hours despite their standard of 20 minutes which makes extracurricular activities difficult to schedule. All in all PV is a great school and the teachers are very competent.

Overall, I have been happy with the quality of education my sons have received at Prairie Vista. They have enjoyed being involved in basketball, Lego League, Earth Crusaders, helping in the supply store and being involved in the tv network news. I do however believe that some of the teachers could do more to inspire the children to think outside of the box. I think most of the teachers do encourage most of the children to do their personal best and especially in the lower grades there is a lot of parent volunteers who assist those children who are needing some extra attention, instruction or guidance. The school has instituted the looping system, which means your child stays with the same teacher and students in the class for 2 years as well as multi-age classrooms in which 2 or 3 grades are in the same classroom. This can be good or bad based on how well your child responds under the guidance of the teacher who they then have for 2 years.
