Straight A student in North Grove Elementary then goes to CGMSN and confronts poor math teaching principles. After 1st semester they downgrade, publicly to next honors class midstream in the year causing another set of challenges. Then at the end of the year they tell my daughter that "math" may not be her thing even though she had straight A's the year before. Poor math teachers and remediation. Yes I do hold my daughter accountable but for a teacher to punt on her after one year is amazing, especially for a girl at that age. She had straight A's in all other classes.. Hmm.
In particular in 6th grade math at an important time of transition from elementary to middle school. This is especially noticed in the advanced honors classes. Not sure how placement into honors or advanced honors is determined. No early remediation if a child is placed too high.
CGMSC is a wonderful school. From the principal to office staff to teachers to students everything about this school is wonderful! My daughter is having a wonderful time by having caring teachers and friendly kids! As a parent I am thrilled!
