Now that i have completed middle school and am about to go to CGHS i have to say CGMSN was a pretty awesome school. 8th grade will be the best year of your life. the teachers will always be there for you. If you are a good student they can be one of your friends.
I was an 8th grade student at this school and I give the teachers 10 out of 10. But the students there are THE WORST EVER! All of them are snotty and if you dont have money dont go there. Almost all of the eight graders there also do illegal drugs. The teachers and staff are amazing but the people in the front office need to lose their attitudes. They talk to parents and students like they are dumb. They are people and if you didnt want the job then why did you apply. People can totally go against my opinion but i know many people and friends who had to drop out or get homeschooled because the students at the school are rude, and snobby. Also if you are not rich or your child does not do drugs they will NOT fit in. They also might become suicidal or extremely depressed. I would greatly advise not to make your children go here. But if your child doesnt care about being ignored and ridiculed then yes you should totally let the students go here because the teachers are FANTASTIC! THANK YOU
CGMSN is a great school. Teachers are progessive and caring. The district does all it can to do everything top notch. High tech and the latest teaching methods. The Band program is the best around. Leadership is always on the cutting edge! My kids love it there.
I am a 7th Grade student and I think the orchestra program is fantastic and I love it. There is never a dull moment in class and Mr. Shimp is so funny. Every one supports each other and is respectful of one another. We rarely have any problems. CGMSN Orchestra has changed my life and I don't know what I would do with out it. P.S. I just wanted to tell Mr. Shimp thanks for being such a great teacher. : )
I think CGMSN is a great school with a lot of great teachers. Keep up the good work!
I felt like I needed to refute part of the last review of our school on this site. The information given about the orchestra program is incorrect. The orchestra program at CGMSN has had exceptional retention rates, never below 86% (well above the national average of 68%). In fact, the orchestra program has had a better retention rate than any of the other music programs in the district! I'm also happy to report that every year since, we have had better retention rates, leading to a 94% retention rate this year. As the orchestra teacher, I would love to see 100% retention. However, sixth grade performance music is required (and is their first experience ever playing an instrument), while seventh grade is not required. I am very proud of the success of each of our orchestra members - past and present -
My daughter's class was the first sixth grade class at CGMSN. There have been 'growing pains', but at least the administration is making an effort to drop the programs that aren't working, and emphasize the positives. Athletics are important, but I do feel that the academics there are solid as well. I feel that the low attrition rate in the orchestra program needs to be addressed, and discipline emphasized. Some of the language that is casually overheard during a walk down the hall would make a sailor blush! Also, a hands off policy needs to be strictly enforced.
