This is a great school. A small community with very involved parents. The teachers are involved and concerned with every students education.

Let me preface by saying I've been a teacher at O-D for 9 years now. (The guidelines say teachers may post here, too.) To lump all the teachers together is sad and ignorant. The majority of the teachers at this school are doing a good job of teaching students, and many have turned down higher paying jobs to work here because we're more interested in students than paychecks. I am not working here because I couldn't get work anywhere else. I turned down other jobs to take this one (one with the Indiana Academy), and I even have teachers from surrounding schools coming to observe me and my classes because of my skill. Please take the comments on this board with a grain of salt. It's a good school for individualized help and for teachers who care about learning as well as students.

I think this school is one of the best around the student teacher relationships are great. with it being such a small school everyone knows everyone and they all get along. I think the staff at Oregon-Davis is made up of some of the best teachers in Indiana. The atmosphere at this school is amazing they keep it so clean and nice. The dicipline is kept up and most wouldn't go anywhere else.

There have been so many cuts made to the staff here. It is truly sad. The children are the ones who will continue to suffer. The quality of education is truly lacking in this school and has been for years. The curriculum is at least 1.5-2 full years behind that of other schools... we moved away for a year, came back, and my kids were way ahead! There are a few 'veteran' teachers who have been there since I was a student back in the late 80's... and they're still plugging away for little pay... but the new ones aren't much to speak of. A smaller school should have more to offer rather than less. The amount we have to pay for supplies is outrageous! They always want money for this, that, or the other thing. I honestly think it's a matter of time before they go under. One can hope.

The quality of the academic programs are truly pathetic. The majority of the teachers are not enthusiastic about teaching. Their wages are low at Oregon Davis, thus the teachers aren't of spectacular intelligence/quality. The curricula is so lax, the students aren't interested, haven't developed discipline, and the teachers lack motivation as well. It's way too easy to get good grades here. Teasing and cliques are rampant at this school- teachers participate in gossip and unprofessionalism. Take a look at how low the test scores are.
