I have to agree with many of the parents that have said the school is no longer what it use to be. I had two boys that graduated from BNI my youngest graduated in 2012. He started in the Middle school at Noll and at the time I could see how the school was academically above all other schools. A few years later much changed at the school and in my opinion has digressed. The test standards are lowered, they do not academically challenge their students, and it is more of a social network instead of a Higher learning institute which is what Noll is known for. I would not recommend sending your child there. My children enjoyed going to Noll and they are very successful now, but it is NOT what it use to be and they have lowered their academic and moral standards. Changes need to be made at that school.

''Bishop noll institute is not an ideal learning environment for your children. I am not writing this review with venom or malice; I am simply writing to inform parents of the quality of education Noll has to offer. I myself am a grad of this school (class of 81) and the standards and quality of this school has downgraded by a lot. I sent my twins to this school for a year, and although they liked it, noll did not academically challenge their students as much as I would like. Many parents have taken their children out of the school because of this. Homework is nonexistent. Test are curved. Classes are more like social talk hours. Teachers involvement is bad. This school is about 8g a year. Is it worth is? No, it is not.''

I have worked at many public/private schools throughout my teaching career and Bishop Noll institute is by far one of the worst. They do not encourage their students to reach their full potential. I feel sorry for many of my students. If your child is not part of a long line of Bishop Noll alumni, they are not treated kindly by the faculty at all. I see no dedication to the art of teaching in my colleagues work. It is more like pop a DVD about Rome in the vcr and right it off as a class, and sadly, this is how many of today's classes are set up. There are a lot of factors that go into a good educational environment. The look of the place is one. BNI puts no money into the classrooms. The technology is run down and broken. Trying to use our smart board s never worked. The paint is peeling f2f, the ceilings are falling, and the floor tiles are popping off. I see no reason for anyone to make a financial sacrifice to send their children to this school.

This school is terrible. Almost all the staff has been replaced (thank God, they were horrible). Principle:gone Assistant principle: Demoted, THEN gone. over 10 teachers have left. This shows lack of dedication and lack of standards set by this school. This school curves tests to make it seem as though everyone is doing exceptionally better then all the other schools. This school is not an exceptional school as they so often say they are. Don't get swept into this hoax. Me as well as many other students from my class transferred after year one. This school is the equivalent of a mediocre public school, not a fabulous Catholic school that they try to make you think as you sign those tuition papers.

"Bishop Noll Institute is a great school. I made the decision and financial sacrifice to send my daughter to Noll, and it was one of the best decisions I could make. Bishop Noll Institute offers a diverse environment, a challenging curriculum, and promotes important life values to our youth. My daughter experienced great success from the smaller class sizes and great teacher influences. She was well prepared for what college level course work demands, and while there developed great study habits and a sense of personal responsibility. The school encourages parent participation through volunteer hours and really promotes a warm and welcoming environment. I would recommend Bishop Noll Institute to any parent who wants their child to receive a quality education. Just keep in mind that your child has to make the most of their time there. As a parent you have to make the personal sacrifice, but they have to be ready and willing to do the work!"

After teaching in both public schools and charter schools, my experiences at Noll are far more rewarding. The administration supports research-based, innovative instruction; the students are kind, good natured, and eager to learn; the facilities are updated every year; technology is improving and being utilized by most faculty on a regular basis. Are there problems and set-backs? Of course, but the way these problems and set-backs are addressed is commendable. Compared to other regional schools, Bishop Noll is giving students a well-rounded, faith-based experience. It is an excellent choice for a Catholic, college prep education.

BNI is a great school. My son graduated from BNI in 2011. I have taught at BNI for 5 years. Before coming to BNI I have taught in public schools and other private schools. There are no major problems with students at BNI. The school climate is great, all the students are very nice to the teachers and each other. Discipline wise this is by far the easiest school I have ever worked in. I choose to send my son to BNI because of the opportunities, the emphasis on hard work and social justice, and the good friends I knew he would make. BNI out performs other schools in the area which can be verified on the Indiana DOE website. Looking at an earlier review which states gangs, drugs, and violence are at BNI is totally not true. Anyone that visits BNI would can see first hand what a friendly and inviting place it is. Yes BNI does require students and parents to do service hours like all Catholic schools, it is part of serving the community. The students love BNI, I suggest letting your son or daughter take a look at BNI, maybe do a shadow day, as they can see first hand if its a good fit for them.

Bishop Noll provides unique opportunities that many other schools do not offer--a Chinese program, a marching band, college credit and AP courses, and a one-of-a-kind schedule created to teach students time management and organization skills. Bishop Noll is not for everyone, but explore all options before making your decision. The parent complaining in the last review has issues with the tuition being too high and mandatory volunteer hours. Really? Did they not know this when they registered? Private schools receive no state or federal funding and rely on tuition and parent involvement to keep the school running. BNI is a great school! We are a second generation family and our children are getting a great education. Their test scores are high and are getting into great colleges with big scholarships. In the past few years the school wired the building for up-to-date technology, purchased new classroom furniture, new cafeteria furniture, painted the school, added new windows, an outdoor facade, renovated the auditorium (beautiful), refurbished the old pool area and added a weight room for the student athletes.The school is moving forward in a very positive way. Inappropriate student behavior is dealt with quickly. Perhaps the parent below came from a public school with no tuition or parental involvement. A school like BNI where parents care enough to be involved is a healthy school. As an involved parent I can honestly describe BNI as a family environment which cares for and nurtures all students.

Bishop Noll Institute offers a challenging academic environment rich in culture & values. Both of my children have attended BNI (one still does) and they could not have experienced a better high school environment than Noll. Bishop Noll provides a fair balance of morality, small class size and a diverse student body. The environment enhances the students acceptance & attitude of people and ideas which are different from their own. This breeds tolerance and creates an environment that is warm, welcoming, sharing academic community, family values, and respect. The students are very respectful & courteous. The quality of the education is excellent. BNI has prepared my older daughter extremely well for college. She has not had any issues whatsoever (socially, academically, etc.).

The quality of education has downgraded. Bishop Noll Institute is no longer the high quality of education that it used to be when I sent my two oldest there a few years ago. As a parent I wish the administrators were better in opening the lines of communication. I have been frustrated many times. The principal is not approachable at all. I am sure to no longer recommend to other parents.

Changes are coming to BN.My child has told me that they will be replacing desks w/tables&that the students will have their classes in various rooms as oppose to the teacher s rooms.The teachers are dedicated&still keep a high standard in communication&the proud tradition of what makes B.N.I.Under Fech s adminteam&staff agreed w/one another to make changes w/open communication so that we could together agree what benefits our children the most. Fech s admin reflected the values of B.N.&of the diocese, this principal; Mrs. McCoy Cejka s admin lacks the respect for tradition&communication of informing the parents and the community. This team does not like the input of parents because it s irrelevant. It is obvious to me that this administration has consistently cause oversights in asking for our parent input. These new changes without our input & of the rest of the community will hurt reliability of the school & why hasn t time taken to communicate these changes to all members of this community? I am not one to stop change because change is constant but it has to take a village to believe in it at the same time preserve the traditions&values of greatness of B.N and of the diocese.

This is my son's first year at BNI. The quality of academic rigor is exceptional. The teachers are not only well qualified, but make subjects interesting and personal for students to fully engage. Students are held accountable for their academics and behavior. Teachers provide additional help if students request. There is no reason for a child not to succeed in this environment. Teachers are accessible to discuss student progress. My son loves the school and so do we. As an educator in another school district, I know my child is getting the best education in the region. BNI is well worth the money.

Bishop Noll Institute consists of a diverse student population, and a well-qualified faculty. The atmosphere is faith-filled with daily prayer and school wide vommunity celebrations in the Catholic tradition. A wide variety of co- and extra-curricular activities compliment classroom instruction and provide opportunities for community service. Founded in 1921 the school has a sound academic rradirion boasting many Lily Foundation Schoolars and National Merit Scholars. Opprotunities to excel in athletics also abound and the school has a proud record of championsips to its credit. BNI is a learning community with a strong feeling of family.

I entered Noll in 2003 as a 7th grader in the Junior High. Great staff, student body, and everyone seemed happy. I saw a major change happen with the implement of technology at the school. Sadly, it feels now that they are exchanging our education with the 'technology.' There are many bugs in the system and don't count on the laptops or Smartboards working. Many of the best teachers left, but there are still a handful of good teachers there like Bently, Tutacko, Trafnet, Conley, Skurka, and Richardson. But please, don't be fooled by the technology and think that it will give you a better education. It won't. Sadly, relying on the student body will not help either. I graduated in the top 10 of 2009 and I will say that what you put into Noll is what you get out of it.

BNI is a great school and any parent who wants their kid to go to college should send them there. The work is challenging but it helps you learn more. I am a 7th grader there and I have loved my time there so far. There are great kids, great teachers, and just love for all of the students. I have BNI pride! Go Warriors!

The ECA is a criterion-referenced assessment developed specifically for students completing their instruction in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.
