This year is my final year at scott and I definatly have seen much improvment. During my 6th grade year there were fights nearly everyday, and violence and bullying was a huge problem. Now most kids have matured and less of fights and bullying has been happening. Also I really noticed that our I steps scores have improved greatly. Our tap team and teachers have came up with brilliant strategies to enhance our students performance in istep. Although scott still needs a lot more work done. I've heard complaints about the lack of funding towards our school. I do not believe it is Scott's fault, it is the local charter schools for taking money out of public schools and using the money for themselves. Also Morton and Scott have really been working hard from kids j-walking. They've set police outside to keep kids from doing that, and it has worked very well. I really don't believe scott is as of a bad school as the other reviews say its is. Now if you disagree with anything I said please reply I would love to know what you have to say.

I give Scott a rating of zero!!!! Your better off reading the reviews and going for yourself one day. You will seriously think it is spohn all over again! Your kids are better off just staying home with monkeys! Or you can let them jay walk across Grand ave and 173rd everyday and hope no one hits them!! The crossing guards don't do their job when they are on time or they won't show up until the elementary school gets out. Nice job Scott middle school!

went to this school for two years and didn't learn anything. don't sent your child here. they don't care what kids do. i wanted to have high goals and you cant do it at scott. its easy to make honor roll just turn in the homework. but if you want to get challenge go to a different school. it be fights and violence involve this is the worst school ever.

My child is in 6th grade ad it is a big change from Elementary. The office people are wonderful. I know they want the children to be more independent but I feel as if I am not involved at all. If my son acts up I don't find out til his progress report or report card. I take care of any problems with my son when it happens. His grades have gone down very much and I really don't know what to do I email the teachers asking to feel free to email me when a problem comes up. That hasn't happened. Very frustrated!

There is a big bullying problem at Scott, students and teachers doing the bullying. There isn't a policy in place for bullying. Discipline for bullying is one sided and the principal question students without the parent(s) present. The principal, without meeting with all parties and parents punishes the accused student unjustly. There are cameras in the school, but they aren't working. Recorded footage could have proved that a student was being wrongly accused and lied on by another student and a teacher, but the camera in the hall where the student's locker is wasn't on. So the non-minority teacher took the word of a non-minority student over the minority student. Scott, academically is very poor. Parents who are financially able transfer their children from Scott. Do not send your children to Scott.

Okay, so some teachers are mean, but some are nice. All you really have to do is actually pay attention. Duh. Yes the school is dirty and yea we've had a bird fly around in the gym. I do agree that the classes are WAY to easy and yes, violence is a huge problem. On the contrary, there are not fights everyday. Sometimes not for weeks! In the grade level, we're kind of like a huge family: You fight with some, some you never met or heard of, some you don't talk to, and some are your favorites.

My son was beat up the 2nd week of school last year, which was his first year,6th grade. The students have wear their shirts tucked in beacause of possible weapon possesion! Most of the teachers do not care at all. My son sometimes cries that he doesn't want to go. He is bullied every day. He is a big strong boy but doesn't want to have to defend himself every day. The onlt decent reviews are 4 plus years old. I will do everything I can to get my son out of this school. The asst. principle is the one shining light in a very dark place.

I have always heard negative story's about Scott and they have been confirmed. I hate the fact that my son goes there because most of the teacher's don't care and don't know how to teach, the school is full of bully's and the principal is totally incompetent. I shadowed my son for one day and I felt like I was at the zoo. Everybody there that has authority has no control. There are assaults everyday after school. I have been forced to permit my son to fight to defend himself because the principal cannot provide him with safety. I hope he gets replaced and soon. Parents please talk with your children to make sure they are not being bullied because this is part of the reason why children bring weapons to school.

I hate Scott. Its dirty and it is strict like a private school. The classes are way to easy and we barely have enough time to eat lunch. I wush I could go to Eggers or Gavit.

I have to say that Scott is very strict and has a zero tolerance similar to a private school. The teachers are very involved and communicate with the parents often. My daughter's reading level went up and the school is preparing her for high school/college. She is actually doing high school level assignments. She has read 5 books thus far and only three months into the school year. This is a great school with caring teachers/principal!

I go to the school i would say that the teachers are verry good principal you dont really hear about her doing too much its mostly the vice principal that seems to get involved students here act horrible rude and very imature the school is really horrible desks chairs are wobbiling broken and probly everything was there when it was built although there is some nice desks that are newer but there are 1,000's of things that get unnoticed and ignored it has got a little better I dont think the dresscode made it any better over all its horrible and the food is horrible but the staff are very nice but over all i kind of gave it a way nicer review than i could of!!!!!! students are horrible and way under educated

My daughter attended Scott very briefly a few years ago. We have lived in Arizona for the past 13 years, she attended Scott only while business was attended to in my hometown of Hammond. I will tell you all this, Scott is not a school, it is a zoo. It always has been. From the time I was growing up until now. Rather than education and growth being nurtured there, violence and complacency reign supreme. The place needs to be leveled and a real school built in its place. I fear for all that send their children to Scott.

In my experience at this school in regards to my children I would have to save that this school saved my girls, compared to the school they transferred from, at the other school they had not learned anything and had to fight every day. But, Oh No! Not and Scott, they went there with a new beginning and showed that they were there to get an education. Their grades improved tremendously! Thanks Ms Escalante and Staff, for showing my girls that there are public school staff members that really do care!

I would rate scott a 4.5 but I dont like the fights that happen during school time and I think the children should wear uniforms. I do not like it when other students are dressed like sluts or punks we all should be wearing nice clothes like preps. My favorite teachers are Ms. Jessica Orlando and Ms. Dunn they are the best teachers.

My son was an ABC honor roll student until he got to this school. The teachers are overwhelmed, the parents don't care about their childrens education. When in a conference with my sons teachers, I asked what the problem was and they claimed threr were too many boys in the class and they couldn't keep them under control, which I saw first hand while waiting for a meeting with my sons computer teacher, as I stood outside the class waiting I observed a students out of control, kids yelling, student standing on his desk while the teacher yelled shut up, sit down to no evail. My son lost all hope while at this school. He wasn't doing homework. On report cards and progress reports the teachers didn't even take time to write comments in the comment areas.
