It is hard being a full time employed mom. I feel it is alittle "clicky" with the PTG moms. I would LOVE to be able to volunteer and be a part of helping. But I cannot and I feel that us working parents are left out. A lot of times the only way I find things out is the rare occasion I can get into the school and see the signs hanging up. It's frustrating. ALso my daughter gets bored easily. And when she does ask for help ( I wrote a note to the teacher also) It seems like a big burden and she doesn't get the extra time on what she needs. I like the "small town" and the school. There just needs to be one more teacher in each grade level.......

The teachers, especially the kg teachers, need to stop complaining the almost 30 kids per classroom are being naughty and have trouble following rules. The kids have a 15 min lunch at 10:30, one recess for 15mins at 11 a.m. if they are lucky, outside, and they stay all day. Why have the teachers not taken advantage of the parents that were requested to volunteer at the beginning of the school? Love the school but something drastic needs to be done about the size of the kindergarten 2012-2013 school years. To be fair, parents need to also not make excuses for bad behavior and back the teachers up. Everyone can improve the situation. Academically, the school is amazing! Unfortunately, if the referendum doesn t get approved, the school will be in big trouble.

This school has an excellent principal and remarkably fine teachers who go out of their way for the children.

The school is comparable to private schools in many aspects but need more teachers! They need to stop allowing children from other districts in, there are too many children in a classroom as it is. Overall a good school, college bound kids. A childs success in any school depends on parents involvment.

I removed my son from this school after one month. I could not stand his teacher, and especially the teachers assistant. She was very rude. If you do not enjoy teaching, then you need to find a different profession. The after school teacher was very unwelcoming as well. They are all very stern and seems to be cold hearted for kindergarten aged students. They are absurd. We moved to a different school and are much happier. We had many other issues, but we are just glad our son is in a better learning environment now.

I agree with the comment that the school needs more teachers. I am so upset that certain teachers would rather give a good child detention for not understanding something than to help them understand. The school also don't return calls.

The teachers are all so caring & wonderful! They have great communication between parents & teachers. The kids have to work hard but also get various rewards throughout the year.

I absolutely love Hebron Elementary! It is a wonderful place to send your child. My daughter is a straight A student and advanced to GT classes. They have the work for the children that want to excell and they do their best to keep you involved. I love that they make school fun for them. It keeps them interested and makes them feel like a part of the school. They always welcome parents to be as involved as possible. I love it here!

Friendly and concerned about the children. A good value for the price.

This school needs to add teachers. I think 27 kids in a class (or more) is awful! My child does well, but it's because of what we do in our home, not because of the teachers in my opinion. Also, too much empahsis on sports over academics! Plus, the school is anti-religion. They teach the big-bang, but don't even mention creationism. Same at Christmas time, no Christianity even mentioned. We're taking this year to pray and think seriously about home schooling our children next year in fact over the anti-Christian slanted teaching.

This is a wonderful school! The teachers and principle Mr. Martin encourage parental envolvement. I have 2 children attending now and 2 more starting kindergarten next year! Truly a gem to find in a small town!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

Above

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
