Perry Meridian Guidance Department. I could not agree more. They give you a phone number and that is about all they do. Yes, I to could do that myself. In addition, my children refer to the school as "prison" and feel many of the teachers don't care, they must teach themselves, and they experience a high degree of frustration from the teachers. It really doesn't have to be this way. It is possible to create an environment that is accepting and good. Make the kids feel they are important and you want them to do well. Simple!

I'm currently a sophomore at Perry Meridian. I'll soon graduate in 2014. As a student here, I'm PROUD to go around and beable to say I attend this school. Perry may not be the best school, but not everyone and eveything is perfect. Coming from IPS I was a bad kid, with bad grades. In Perry i've been able to recieve decent grades and I'm on the path to graduate. The teachers and administers may not be the best, but we have been taught to take the best of what's giving to us. Perry Meridian is a GREAT school to attend, speaking from me and a lots of others.

Perry Meridian is not the best school in the world, but it definately will prepare you for whatever you choose to do after school (be it college or the workforce.) In the last few years, the availability of challenging academic programs has greatly improved DESPITE budget cuts, which is a wonderful thing. The administration has also, generally, improved. The guidance department is not extremely helpful, but they will direct you to resources so that you may help yourself. Perry also has many wonderful teachers, but there are a few that aren't so great (as with any public school.) Overall, I'm pleased that I've attended this school, and I definitely feel prepared for college.

PMHS is a great school I have a son who graduated in 2007, and a daughter who will graduate in 2011 both have, and will graduate with academic honors. Perry has good school system. We moved leaving IPS so my children could attend Perry Schools. My children have more benefits than IPS could ever offer them. Teachers that turn my son around, and got his attention. That changed his way of thinking, taught him to care about school and and to better himself. It has been said that parents should teach their children how to behave, and help in the learning process when it comes to school. Having good teachers who care about their about students. Taking pride in teaching and connecting with their students where it makes a difference, and coming away with something more than facts and figures is a great thing in a school. Perry has done this.

Academically, this school does not offer any challenges to students. The staff is not very involved with anything relating to the students, so much so that a majority of the students have never even seen the principal. The level of difficulty is way lower than most high schools, and there are very few teachers that actually care about the students (and even mosre students who would rather not be there).

I have been very pleased with my daughter's experience at PMHS. She has been challenged academically and has excelled with a high GPA (higher than I every expected)! I have noticed that if she gets a teacher who she can not understand or relate to, then other teachers in that area are available for free tutoring after school or even before school to help explain things to her! Wow! The current principal, Joan Ellis, is awesome! She has a good rapport with the students and the staff as a whole. Not all the students are achieving there...but like anywhere else...you get out of it what you put into it! There are many clubs and sports offered. I am a please parent.

I come from a small town, out of state school system with large rural district to create a class size of about 200 kids per class. Although our attrition rate was much lower than PMHS (and other nearby large metropolitan schools), the level of curricular and extra-curricular activities was nothing when compared to PMHS. Teaching quality for what's availalble seems the very similar except that PMHS teachers have more resources albeit many are provided by the many parent/booster organizations that exist. Access to staff is good, school phone #s of all teaching staff is posted on PMHS website, all teachers provided email address during parent/student visitation night. I have had much success communicating with my childrens' teachers when needed and have been satified with responses or proposed compromises when positions are far apart.

I thought this school was absolutely ridiculous. There are a handful of teachers that do not care about their students, and set them up for failure. The guidance department is also worthless.

Preparing students to excel at major universities is a very high priority for the staff. As a former student, they did an excellent job. Academics are focused on heavily. Perry Meridian has an excellent sports and extra-curricular program as well including a world class exercise facility that is available to all students.

Very dissapointed with most teachers and administration.Progress reports are shown to the kids,but not given to the parents.Lack of communication.Favoritism of teachers over students,probably due to the union.Principal does not know what the teachers are teaching and seems to not care to find out.Quality is poor,very poor.

I have had three children and over a dozen nieces and nephews graduate from Perry Meridian High School over the last 30 years. [More to come.] I have nothing but the highest respect for the School, the Administration and the Staff. The greatness of a school is measured by the leadership of the Administration, namely the Principal and Assistant Principals. In Perry's case, they rank at the top! In my immediate as well as extended family, there have been 'underachievers' as well as 'overachievers' who have attended and graduated from Perry Meridian High School. In all cases, the quality of the Teachers played a tremendous role in helping each student reach his or her potential. When you couple the above with the number of 'extracurricular activities' that are offered, you or your child cannot go wrong.

I've had 2 boys in pmhs one graduated in 2001, with great memories. He was accepted to purdue u. That would not have been possible without pmhs academic programs. My other son will be in gr. 11 This year. Not one conduct report ever on either son. Pmhs has dedicated staff, teachers worked on their own time to help my son with geometry. Thanks to them he passed with good a good grade. Parents smell the coffee, we as parents have to do our part on how a child adapts to school. We cannot expect the school to take total care of our kids. If a child does not respect teachers,in my opinion it has to start at home. I do believe they do the best they can with some very hard situations. I am proud of my son. I say hang in teachers! it is worth it!!!

My daughter was a Freshman at Perry HS last year and will be attending as a Sophomore this year. My youngest daughter will enter as a freshman also. I was extremely discouraged last year due to the fact that if my daughter received an unsatisfactory grade, she wasn't required to show/have me sign anything. Notices were passed out and the student would have to sign them with or without our knowledge. I do believe students should be responsible for their work/grades however, my 14yo would, if given the choice, sign her own to avoid being grounded just as many other kids would. I really hope this policy changes in the future.

PMHS needs much improvement in the area of quality teachers. There has been extremely poor efforts of the teachers to communicate with the parents. We are not allowed to call the teachers nor email them. We have to use a third party such as a counselor. This does not work at all! We as parents do have rights, as well as the students,but PMHS chooses to cater to their teachers instead of their students and their parents. What used to be a great school is now lacking in many respects. Just look at their tests scores and the low graduation rate.

I don't have a child at Perry, but I did attend there myself. I enjoyed my time at Perry and would recomend the school to others thinking of moving into the distect. They have great athletics and offer alot of opprotunities to try different things.
