This is my first year at EW and can say I am surprised by the amount of interaction, commitment, honesty, caring and availability provided by the teachers. As the School Safety Officer this help me in tremendously in preparing students and staff to be mindful of safety and security and being a TEAM player when it comes to safety. As I tell the students very often "I need you to be the solution to the problem not part of it". The students respect when the staff is honest and up front with them. And that expectation is shown from the top down.
Eastwood is a great school school in a supportive community. The Eastwood staff embraces the very diverse learners that they serve. They provide excellent educational programming for all students; however, with more state funding, they could provide even more opportunities for students beyond the traditional school day.
My daughter is currently a senior. She attended Eastwood when it was good. My son is now an 8th grader and I'd say Eastwood is way above "good". Block scheduling at EW has enabled teachers to really build relationships and bond with the children in their classes. My daughter sometimes felt like the teachers didn't even know who she was...but my son feels very connected and appreciates that teachers know and care about him. Now that EW is an IB school, I think things will continue to get better and better! I appreciate all that the teachers and administrators do to make Eastwood great!

Outstanding staff with supportive parents that creates a wonderful learning environment for students! Washington Township Schools are one of few public school districts in the nation offering International Baccalaureate (IB) to all students in all schools!
Eastwood Middle School has been a wonderful surprise for this mom. With one child who is now a 7th grader & another who'll be entering next year, I can compare & contrast my apprehensions about my oldest child's first days at Eastwood with the excitement I feel now for my younger daughter next year. The school is rather small; very simply laid out.We felt a warmth & sense of welcoming I just never had associated with the idea of "middle school." But that's Eastwood. Not that the curriculum isn't rigorous. Eastwood is an IB school & Principal Matt Kaiser & his staff ask no more of the students than they ask of themselves. & they ask A LOT of themselves.I volunteer a few hours, weekly & I see only part of what these men & women put into their days, nights & wknds on the students' behalf. It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a group of people who give above & beyond to make a public school this good.In my 2 years of being an Eastwood parent, I've met many such teachers & staff. We're a family of Chinese Americans. My daughter had to deal with racial taunting in another school. There have been NO such incidents at Eastwood where my daughter feels, in her words,"at home."
Great opportunities, great faculty, great kids. We have two very advanced children, and the school has done anything we have asked to challenge them and provide them with the resources they need. They faculty is good at differentiation of instruction
