My daughter has attended McClelland Elementary for the past two school years. I am very pleased with the school and the teachers. My daughter has learned alot and the teachers have gone the extra mile to make sure that she gets the best education possible. If you have the opportunity to send your child to McClelland it would be a wise choice. I would like to recognize the two teachers that have given my daughter a great start on her education: Mrs. Johnson(kidergarten) and Mrs. Walsh (1st grade)

This was our first year at McClelland Elementary School, with children in kindergarten, third grade and fifth grade. Coming from the IPS school district McClelland is a major improvement. The school has worked very well with my third grade son who has been diagnosed with ASD, making the modifications to his daily schedule to help him be the best he can be to succeed in school. The older children at the school tend to get loaded down with a lot of homework which makes it difficult to plan family time and functions after school and on weekends. My fifth grade daughter had an extremely large amount of homework most days, on weekends and even over holiday vacations. The school district has grown a great deal over the past few years and the classroom sizes are large, most with 26 students or more. With the addition of another elementary school coming soon hopefully that will alleviate the large number of students to teachers ratio. I have seen an adequate amount of parental involvement, mostly with the PTO sponsored events, and special events in the classrooms. As far as parental involvement for children with special needs or behavioral problems, parental involvement is lacking. Over all, I am very pleased with McClelland and the job they are doing. There are many motivated and caring teachers doing a wonderful job with such large class sizes. The communication from the school has also been wonderful, keeping me well informed of events and weekly progress reports on my children. I am looking forward to working with the school for many more years to come.
