DO NOT send your autistic child to this school. They have a room with a 10-12" thick metal door and a small room. They will lock your child inside. They do not work with the students. They treat them like prisoners and if they don't comply, they are "forced" and manhandled. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL! They DO NOT work with parents. They just send your child here because they don't want to spend the extra money helping or educating your child!

Sanders is an "alternative" school for students who require additional services that the other schools may not be able to provide. I have heard it referred to as the "Bad Kids School", but this is very misleading and unfair. While there are some students at Sanders that are there because they've been expelled from other schools, that is not the case for all students. The teachers at Sanders work extremely hard to provide a safe environment and to tailor the class work and lessons to the needs and abilities of the students. Breakfast is provided free every morning, and there is a huge focus on character building. The teachers seem to really know how to build rapport with the kids so they can gain their respect without being condescending or controlling. The staff are also very supportive and can be an excellent resource for parents.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Climate ratings

Climate rating for this school is not yet available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
