Awesome school. Very caring teachers. They keep in touch with parents on a consistent basis to keep you updated on your child's academic progress. The 5th grade teacher Mrs. STELLING is wonderful she really stay on top of the kids when it comes to academics. She always gives encouraging words & has a great relationship with parents. This school is growing & developing into something Great that's preparing children for their future.

I love teaching and touching lives of our school community. It's a small school that enables our students and families get a more personalized educational experience. Our staff is truly dedicated to the families we serve and look for innovative ways to engage the entire school community. I've taught at other schools that were much larger and I really enjoy the staff and students at Andrew Academy.

My son has attended this school since K, he's now in the 2nd grade, and personally I couldn't be happier. He's scoring higher than the "high" national average on benchmark tests, in every subject!!!!! And his teacher, Ms. Yoder is super awesome! His 1st grade teacher was also wonderful; she's been there for 30years! She has done an amazing job establishing the foundation that's important for future learning. I'm excited to see what the future holds for him at the Andrew Academy; we'll be here as long as possible! :-)

My grandson has attended this school since he was in preschool. He is now a 8th grader. We have watched the school transition from private to charter and go through many changes in the past few years. Now (this school year), this is a great school. The new principal has made all of the difference. She has put together a group of teachers that have high expectations and genuinely care about the students.

I am the new Head of School for Andrew Academy and we have made some significant changes to create and sustain an innovative school of excellence. Please consider stopping by at 4050 East 38th street and meet "Team Andrew" as well as take a tour of our learning community. We are committed to our students and families and will use all of our resources available to identify, support, and grow academic leadership. We have small communities of learning (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) to allow for sufficient allocation of resources for planning, grouping, and teaching and we use data effectively and efficiently to inform instruction. Come on by and see the great things happening at this great school. We are bound for excellence.

Andrew Academy is moving in the right direction! The new administration is very competent with a lot of experience at leading great schools. The school is also being inundated with a lot of state of the art technology including iPads, SHARP Smart Large Screen Computer TV's and a brand new computer lab. Finally, the faculty and staff is full of energy and great ideas. The students know that the teachers really care about them as unique children and great learners. This already great school is continually improving and creating amazing students!

My grandchildren now attend Andrew Academy. This is not the same school. However, overall the teachers of lower grades are very concerned teachers. Teachers of higher grades as I see discipline problems with students. The after-school project is merely a babysitting project for parents until they are able to pick them up.

Andrew Academy was a private school before 2010 (St. Andrew/St. Rita Catholic Academy) so the 2008/2009 reviews are old. My children attended this school through its transition from private school to a public Charter School, and we left after 1 year as a charter. Positive: This school accepts students that have been put out of the worst public schools and they do great. Negative: The atmosphere was pure chaos for students that were used to a more structured environment. There were so many discipline issues that the teachers could not teach. One of my children went from reading a grade above her grade level to falling more than a year behind, failing all state tests, and hating school. When we transferred she had to be placed in a special program to help her catch up. She is now in a healthy, nurturing school environment at another school. My other daughter went from loving school to dreading walking in the door. Chaos, bullying, constant yelling (adults and students), and drama. After the 2nd day at her new school my daughter came running to me and thanked me for making the change. I cried that night :o)

My children have attended St. Andrew for a few years. The reading program is excellent, but after having them tested for other programs I have found that they both score average to below average in math. The teachers are caring and have high expectations. Both my children do well with what they are taught. The communication is great via email. Unfortunately, there aren't many extra activities outside of school.

I love this school. This school is like a family, everyone knows everyone on a first name basis. This year my son was diagnosised with ADHD and the school worked with me to get my son back on track. The school kept me informed of my childrens' behavior rather good or bad. Only downfall is that the school doesn't have afterschool sport activites.

I am pleased with the student/teacher ratio. My son, a kindergartner is learning to read using a program based on phonics. He is also developing his math skills and has even done some fractions. I am absolutely excited about the faith based learning that he is receiving. It reinforces what I teach at home and at every opportunity. St. Andrew/ St Rita's is striving to turn out excellent students and is doing so. I only wish that there was more parental involvement but I am sure that that too will change and their enrollment continues to increase. Unfortunately because of the small student population, there are not a lot of sports and extracurricular activities. In spite of that, this school is a diamond few are aware of...I'm glad I do.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
