Nativity Catholic School continues to grow in enrollment, programs, and academic achievement each and every year. In October 2010, Nativity was featured as one of Indianapolis' Best Schools by Indianapolis Monthly. We are ranked as high achieving with high growth in Mathematics by the Indiana Department of Education. We encourage to visit us to see for yourself that Nativity is truly "The School of Choice.
Our new Principal, Terri Rodriguez has brought so many positive changes in just 1 year that will effect the future of Nativity. She is a great leader and role model for our kids. We've been a part of Nativity for nearly 8 years and wouldn't have it any other way. Catholic based and values are taught that you do not receive outside in township schools. The small school is like a family to us and we wouldn't have it any other way!!!
Nativity Catholic School is a wonderful school. Although some of the older reviews speak of discipline problems, I have found this to be totally untrue. As a matter of fact, there is very little instances of misconduct that I have seen while visiting the school on numerous occasions. Students are on task in every classroom. While visiting the school, notice the artwork of the students. It is top notch as are the music programs. I have been in many schools during my career and find Nativity to be one of the best!
Nativity School provides a wonderful faith-based education to its students. Our family has been members of Nativity for five years. This year has really been exciting, we have been blessed with a wonderful new principal. It's amazing how much our principal, teachers, parents, and students have accomplished this year. Communication has improved, new programs and clubs have been implemented, and the positive energy in the school is contagious. I'm proud to say my children attend Nativity School!
Numerous problems at this school. Discipline is the biggest concern. Uniforms and dress code is the next. Turn over in teachers each year. School does not follow the faith based education it claims. Children are not held accountable for their actions in behavior. I would not recommend this school.
I have had a student at Nativity for over 3 years now and was initially disappointed with the previous principal and some of the staff but with the new principal and new additions to the teaching staff I see great strides being made in the overall academic performance of all the students and the classes. The principal has high expectations for both teachers and students in regards to faith, morality, learning, and commumity obligation! There have been many great changes thus far. This is not a rich parish and will not be 'extravagant' in it's surface but when you look to the quality of the education, the commitment of the current parental community and the 'family feeling' that is within the walls of the school and the sports programs, you will find that there a true benefits to becoming a part of the Nativity Family! PreK is now #1on my list!
I have recently experienced their PreSchool and the teacher is terrific! The confidence that the teacher built in my child was a blessing! I feel confident that he will be ready for full day Kindergarten. The school appears to be in a 'rebuilding' phase and adding more positive and updated facilities and equipment. The new principal, seems very committed to the students and the staff and seems to be generating a positive atmosphere for anyone involved. There are currently no identified 'gifted' programs but from what I have discussed with the teachers I am associated with, they provide extra work and small group study with students in their classes to challenge any students who are working above the wrtitten work guidelines. On the other extreme, I have also had experience with the Nativity Resource Teacher and my child excellerated with her help to where he needed to be!
Our family has been involved in Nativity School for going on our 7th year. There are so many positive changes going on at our school right now! We have a WONDERFUL new principal who has a TON of experience! The kids are all excited, the parents and the teachers! We have alot of friends who are like family to us. We all have made a place in our heart for Nativity. My kids would hate to go anywhere else. They learn about God, how to treat eachother, how to stay positive, learn self discipline as well as getting a great education....We will be here way beyond our children's school years. It is where we belong!
My family belongs to Nativity Parish and my children attend school at Nativity. This is top of the line school. Teachers are all wonderful and the parents are very envolved in the school. It is not always about having the best sports facilities and'or building it is what goes on inside that matters. Our children are proving to be successfull everyday. Our enrollment is the highest it has ever beenw with 450 students. Parents should remember that you have to be envollved and around the school to be able to give and opinion about wether or not the school is top of the line. Parents who are not envolved with their childrens lives at school shuld not be alowed to comment.
Nativity is not a good school at all. I heard the principal is leaving so that's good. She doesn't take the time to hire good teachers. The teachers there are too easy and think they rule the place. Also, the sports teams are only up and running for only about a month and then they are done. Their seasons are way too short. After they hire a new principal, I think that Nativity will be a better school.
Our family has experienced several schools, both Catholic and Public. We love Nativity, so do our children. First we feel very comfortable and reassured that our children are in a faith-filled environment throughout their day and surrounded for the most part by kids whom share our faith. Second the school is small and everyone knows each other, it is very friendly and welcoming to the children. The academics are very strong and the curriculum strongly emphasizes the basics, phonics, reading, writing, math, etc. In today's world it is easy to get 'caught' up in the technology push and forget that kids need to still learn basics. They don't have an advanced or gifted program, but we've had experience in that at the public school and don't miss it at all! The teachers all seem caring, loving and nurturing. I would recommend this school to any catholic family wanting to pass their faith their children.
Nativity is a school that strives for excellence. I am very happy with the quality of education my child is receiving (especially in the middle school). My son has a learning disability and the teachers are very flexible and ready to help him when he needs it. I have contacted all of the middle school teachers and I worked one on one with them to aid in my son's education. Parental involvement is key. Nativity is a great place for my family.
The extracirricular activities are not as good as other schools in the area. The school has a small amount of students, which makes it easier to help with kids who need extra help. The school goes to church everyday, which is really good. Although the education there is very low quality. The teachers set low standards for responsibility on assignments and homework. This school is just average, not the best.
The Nativity teachers are constantly working on ways to improve education for every learning style. The faculty focuses on the positive attitudes of the students. The students are reminded to treat others the way Christ has taught us. Parents are encouraged to help in the classroom any chance they get. Positive notecards are sent home monthly to let the students know that their hard work in the classroom is appreciated. The children are truly loved by the teachers at Nativity. The teachers set high expectations of the students and help them succeed in meeting them. Nativity is a great school for any child that wants a successful future, especially with Christ.
I sent my children to this school for one year, and then pulled them out.First off, this school has many disciplinary problems that need to be taken care of.Students at this school have done things that should have resulted in expulsion, but for some reason there they let them off easily. The education really needs help as well. Some teachers just tell the students to do a certain amount of work and then just do whatever they want. Some teachers set very low standards for getting in work on time.Bullying is a problem at this school,& I talked to teachers about it,but they did almost nothing to help. There are so many better Catholic schools out there than this one.
I have a kid who graduated from Nativity, and some who still go there.I think that the school is average, and since its so small theres not alot of activities or special programs for talented kids. The primary grades are very good, but as you move onto the middle school, the teachers get worse.Sometimes last year, there would be grade problems,& when I wanted to confront the teacher about this, they never responded to my emails & I dont think that they really care. They have a pretty good athletics team there, but that is about it.Sometimes at that school athletics are taken too seriously & get in the way of academics.I wouldnt recommend this school if you have kids who are smart or have learning disabilites, because they dont have much to offer.I would rate this school a little below average. Thanks & take care.
I pulled my kids out of this school because I did not like it. Some of the teachers were good, but also others were not. The discipline there needs some help badly and I just do not think that they run the school very well. There are no advanced classes there for smarter kids and also the kids there are very rude and most of the time, the bad teachers will do nothing about it. I called once about it, and they did nothing. The time and effort is not worth putting towards this school. This is not the best school out there.
