We have been at ICS awhile and I see there is a definite problem with the administration and its consistency.Good luck getting straight answers. Also, lack of quality teachers in the upper grades and the good ones they do have, leave out of frustration. They have a high student and teacher turnover.People stay because they don't want to go to IPS,not because its a good school!
I agree with all of the statements given by the former ICS parent. We have also been with the school since the beginning. It has a lot to offer, but it also has many problems.
Compared to ips, ics is a lot better. But that's not really saying much. This school has a huge problem with organization and consistency. The 'administration' changes things mid-year with no real explanations. They give out pertinent information very late. When you ask the school for detailed information, you get the 'run around'. There is also an even bigger problem with rules, regulations, and following their own guidelines and the law. There have been quite a few incidents that were not dealt with properly; and there seems to be more than just an assumption of 'racial' and 'social' inequality. There is a lot of favoritism shown. I know that we have limited access to decent public schools here in indy, but if you have the option of attending another school that is comparable in academics and other important criteria, I definitely suggest that you attend the other(s).
ICS is a very well rounded school. My kindergartner has learned so much. There are no cut backs like at IPS. ICS provides art, music, gym and even spanish for the students. The teachers are first rate and care about the students. There isn't a better school on the eastside of Indianapolis.
Our daughter has been at ICS from the first day it opened. My son just started kindergarden there also. We love the school, I could not think of anything I would change.
