My two children have attended the International School of Indiana (ISI) since Kindergarten. Now in high school, they are inquisitive learners, dedicated students, and independent young thinkers. ISI creates a learning environment that challenges them to think critically. This academic excellence is accomplished in an environment that welcomes cultural difference, experiences world culture through teachers and students, and encourages language learning as a way to fully immerse into another culture. At 10th grade, all ISI students have completed requirements for the Honors Diploma in Science, and every student in Grades 11 and 12 are enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program. At the start of Grade 10, we already see how prepared our daughter is for college. Thank you to all the ISI staff and administration for your committment to such an excellent and rigorous academic program.

I currently have two children attending ISI. Over the past 9 years, I've watched my boys be able to confidently communicate in both English and Spanish. The instruction they have received has been exceptional every year without fail. The combination of warmth and acceptance along with a demand for academic excellence has made this a wonderful place for my boys to thrive socially and intellectually.

My son has been at this school since first grade (he's now a Junior) and we love it. He has received a wonderful education. The teachers have been great. The environment is wonderful. If you are looking for a quality, well rounded education, you should check this school out further.

This is a wonderful school which opens up the world to Midwestern students. The emphasis on immersion in the early grades compliments that High School philosophy of IB for all. This builds a strong community that provides and unique and excellent educational environment for all students.

This is a school with teachers that clearly care about the students and are doing work that they love. They model the behavior and in turn, the students have the same caring attitude toward each other. The academics are rigorous; the classes are interactive vs. lectures. There is a 'no cut' policy for sports and students are encouraged to try something new.

I sent in this comment in feb. Before this website broke the listing for this school by grade, so i'm updating it a bit. My daughter has been at isi for 8 years [since 3rd grade] and i think the school is tremendous. I believe that learning a second language before age 10 is one skill [essential in the global marketplace] that will remain throughout life. I also believe that early second language acquisition changes a student's outlook on life. The high school international baccalaureate program is rigourous, but all students work through it together -- sort of a trial by fire. Real critical thinking is needed. Ib prepares them for college and beyond; some graduates receive almost 2 semesters worth of college credit. This year the students placed first [istep] or near the top [sats] in the entire state on these important exams. Clearly, they are doing something right.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Indiana used the End-of-Course (ECA) assessment to test students in middle and high school in Algebra I, Biology I, and English 10. The ECA is a criterion-referenced assessment developed specifically for students completing their instruction in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
