Both my daughters have attended at least three years at Northside Montessori School. I have high expectations of teachers and environment with respect to academics and general lessons of character and morality. I have been exceptionally pleased with this school in all ways. They practice what they preach and instill a love and excitement for learning that many parents don't believe possible in school. The NMS style offers a great balance of freedom and structure. Children are taught to be tolerant and kind, and to resolve issues respectfully. The volunteer opportunities are a joy to experience how the children and teachers work in the classroom. Communication with the parents, and an active parent organization, gives just the right level of parent involvement. The leadership sets a strong example of how a small private school can flourish.

The teachers at NMS and Ms. Judy are great - responsive, caring and motivating to kids. My two boys started their kindergarten here and they were eager to go to school and always brought home something to share. I can say this is the best out there. We moved out of Indianapolis to Michigan and quickly found out that none of the 'Montessori' schools matched our standards and expectations. Thank goodness we could tell because of our experience with Northside Montessori.

After a disastrous year of traditional public school kindergarten, we decided the Montessori way was worth a shot for our 6 year old daughter. We could not have made a better choice than this school. Right away her attitude toward education did a complete 180 and she is actually enthusiastic to learn and even to help out with chores at home. I really feel that the Montessori method has helped her build self confidence and social skills as well. This school is set in an older Victorian style home that is not so intimidating as the institutional feel of traditional schools and the nurturing environment within and caring attitudes of the teachers really reflect that. Its also one of the more affordable private school options in the area.

Both of my children attend Northside and they have never been happier. It is the most peaceful, nurturing education enviroment that I have ever been exposed to. Unlike most other education options, my children are receiving invaluable life lessons about being respectful, caring, compassionate, strong, and independant by a group of teachers that truly care about their students. Ms. Judy sets a great example in all aspects as a leader for her teachers, students, and parents. There is not a single school in the state that I could recommend higher.

I became a student at Northside when I was very young, just a few years after the school opened. It's crazy to think that after 20 years away memories of attending are still so vivid. The teachers were genuinely interested in helping to shape the children into successful people. I would highly recommend to others this school for their own children. I would send my own son their if I could.

My daughter attended NMS for 3 years. We found it to be a wonderful, nuturing experience. I was volunteering the day she learned to read and the teacher was ecstatic as was I. The teachers are very committed, the director/owner Judy is hard working, hands on and extremely devoted to Montessori's philosophy and the smooth operation of her school. It is true Montessori and a true 'gem'. Sadly, the education level only goes up to around 4th grade, as the focus/committment seems to be towards the younger set. A great school for Pre-K, K and 1, 2 grades.

I have two daughters who attended Northside Montessori, one until the 4th grade and one until the 6th grade, and made a smooth and successful transition to public school. I give the credit for their current success to the nurturing and creative environment at Northside. My girls started their Montessori experience as preschoolers and graduated with a solid sense of self, high self-esteem, and strong academic and organizational skills. I only wish that Northside offered classes through 12th grade! I look forward to sending my son there soon.
