I would recommend this school to anyone I know. The teachers and principals are very much involved in the future of these children. They offer a lot of extracurricular activities that keeps the children even more involved. I walked down to hallway to my daughter's class and on the lockers were notes on almost every locker that said I will graduate from college. I am so happy that I chose this school to help guide my child.

My children attended this school for three years and every year the schools staff claimed that things would be different . The school is not getting any better, there is a lot of bullying, back talk, and out right disregard for the rules by a lot of the children. The rules are different for different children,not inforced. As far as the adminastration and staff goes I feel a lot of them are only there for a pay check. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

I think ILCS is one of the best schools ever! I really love the over academic curricular and the school made AYP. The high school is in a class of it's own. The small classroom settings, the laptops given to the students, and even the dual enrollment with Indiana University. I am so glad I chose ILCS for my children. The only lacking factor is the parent involvement.

This School is nothing. They promised my daughter alot of stuff but never happen. and they said that they will get her a bus by now and it is the end of the school year.I am the one who has to drive her to school everyday when they had promised her a bus and we live far away so it is alot tigher on me. i would have never allowed this to happen if they could not have picked her up i understand they coukd have told me and she would not being to this school in the first place. but now i know she will not be coming back here at all.!

this school has alot of problems! kids are bulling , back talking , etc . no one is doing anything about it .it is a mess picking up , or droping off . you almost get hit eather way . the teacher's do not care what goes on as long as they get paid . the principle will not do anything ! you would think this is vages. you no what happtions there stay's there ! this is my daughters last year .

My child has been at this school for 2 years. To be very truthful I love her teacher she does ger job. I am really tired of the kids getting bullied. Really what does a parent have to do to get through to a school. The principal is always to bust to help the parents. This will be my daughters last year here. I cant believe some of the stuff these poor kids have to go through. they say 0% tolerance that is not true either. My child has been bullied for the past 4 months and the school has not done anything about it. I would not tell anyone to bring their child to that school.

This is one of the worse schools that my child has ever been too. I have not yet seen anything in the school that I'm pleased with. My childs teacher does not have control over the class, and the students talk back, and they try to pick on my child and the school does nothing. I have never met the principle and I had to figure out who she was by myself. She and from what I have seen she does not do a good job, because I have called her about several different incidents about things going on in that school, and I have not ever recived a call from that principle. I think that IPS is a much better school system than this school. Charter schools really need to be checked out before you send your children to them, its not everything its cracked up to be.

My child has been bullied by other children at this school and the school has done nothing about it. They are faililng according to the state. Test scores are low and the school hasn't done anything to 'fix' them. Our child failed 1 area of the istep, and when we asked his teacher why he failed and what we could do to help him, we were basically blown off. My son hasn't gone on any field trips this year, and the schools idea of learning about local culture is to let the kids listen to rap music and teach them how to do the dances that go along with the song (last year it was the superman, this year it was the stankyleg). Needless to say, this is the last year he'll be at the school... But i really feel like the school failed our son. Ips would be better!

i'm a student here and right now the school seems like its very unorganized and i understand that its a pretty new school and everything but by the third year of it being opened i would've expected that it would have had everything done.Another thing is that it doesnt even have a library and were supposed to have ready by the beginning of this year that just passed but the room its supposed to be in is just filled with junk and some books

I have three children attending ILCS this year and so far, I am not impressed at all. This is their first year at ILCS. My [middle child's] home room teacher has changed 3 times already this year. I have yet to see a progress report. Wednesdays Parent teacher conferences will be a revelation for me on where they stand in their academics. My 8 year old is the only one who seems to have a teacher that follows all of the policies.

The principles the school is based on are exceptional, however, the implementation of them are horrible. Over the past two school years I have seen a drop in the quality of educators working at the school. At first, there were many quality educators with years of experience. Now there are few teachers that have more than three full years of experience. This directly affects the quality of instruction the students receive as well as the teachers ability to handle discipline. Teaching in an urban environment is a challenging task, but to do it as a new teacher and without the necessary support of veteran teachers is even harder. If you want your child to attend this school be prepared to visit them and keep up on the teachers to make sure they are doing an adequate job of educating your child.

This is the second year that my daughter will attend ILCS. My daughter was in pre-k last year and she can read at a first grade level. She also is excited about returning. The school is still new and as with all new schools, it will take time to get things following smoothly. I also enjoy the smaller classroom sizes, it helps the children get more of the one on one attention. My child attended art and gym once a week, which is normal for children. As for the music class, every morning there is music playing with a composer theme. As a parent I attended meetings as well as dropped and picked my child up everyday. It is up to the parent to step up. The school is a work in progress, but my family is willing to hang in there.

This is my daughter's second school year attending this school, was part of the inaugural class. Initially we had some concerns over deficiencies (the school had no playground, no library, very poor communication with parents) but the school was new so we were willing to wait and do all that we could to see it improve. We felt that the goals stated for this school were exceptional (focus on the arts, fluent reading by the first grade). In her second year at this school we have seen a marked decline. The school marginalizes a large portion of the parent community from having any effective input, have stated that they have no plans to introduce a library, have had at least 3 different discipline policies this school year alone. If surrounding schools were not stating they are already full of transfers from Lighthouse, my daughter would not be there today.

There are serious discipline issues in the school. The discipline issues make unsafe for both students and staff. I have also attempted speaking with officials at this facility to no avail. The administration does not back up the teachers or parents. It is difficult to get our children's test scores/report cards. There is very little in the way of arts taught. The administration does not adequately inform parents when after school activities are canceled. The teacher turn over is massive. Some classes have had more than 5 teachers this school year alone. I am removing my child from this school, and I have to say it has nothing to do with my child's teacher. She has been excellent.

Discipline/safety policies not executed. The teachers try, but have their hands tied by an administration. We've struggled with this school to challenge our child and haven't received any help from either principal(s) or the 'education coordinator', even after numerous meetings with all of them. The 'arts infusion' consists of an art class once per week that took a full year to implement and and dance team that performs at a few times a year.

I have been very pleased with the Charter School. The staff, is excellent. My children have been very happy as well. This is the first year open and we will be back in the fall.
