Good school. Great Teachers. My sin likes going to school and is thriving. I wish he could have gone to this school when he first started school.
I am so excited about my kids attending IMSA North, I'm impressed about the results that my 3rd grader has brought since she has attended she has made honor roll, and the teachers are always there to let you know how your child is doing, as well as my 1st grader she progressing also, and. I have an 8th grader who attends and is doing good also his attitude has improved tremendously since he's been playing basketball for the school and. I also have a Kindergarten who will also will be attending next year.
My child had a tramatic experice with school before attending IMSA. Since his first day he walked into this school it has been an awesome experience, from the front office faculity, to the coaches. Everyday he wakes up and says how great his school is, and that he is proud of the choice that we made in switching schools. Thank you IMSA, I am now proud to know that everyday I send my child to school he is in good hands.
I feel really comfortable in my spirit just knowing that my child attends IMSA. One of the things that really stands out is the open communication that the entire staff allows us to have with them. I find that the staff at IMSA work very hard to help our children achieve greatness and, they are extremely observant of the strengths and encourage the children to have confidence. Getting a great start in a school designed to assure that the students perform at above average levels is exactly what it takes for them to become a success at whatever they desire to achieve. Thank you for the opportunity that you have given my child.
I have been pleased with the quality of teachers that my children and I have been exposed to in the past three years. I have been able to establish a positive relationship with administrators and teachers both when it comes to the education of my children. They are open to suggestions whenever I have input that would help how my child learns and I have been able to maintain an open communication with anyone involved in my child's life while attending IMSA North. I have recommended IMSA North to another parent who has voiced some issues with their school. I would like to see more extracurricular sports and language clubs if funding were made available. Overall I feel IMSA North is and has been an excellent choice for me and my children.
Not enouh books for kids to use. There is not enough room on my daughters bus and kids are sitting on the floor or the bus. This week my daughter was told she could not eat breakfast or lunch because of a past due invoice. WHAT KIND OF PLACE DOESN'T FEED A HUNGRY CHILD? Even prisoners aren't denied nutrition.
This school is great! I have two kids attending at IMSA North since 2011. Previously they attended a suburban school district. My kids are getting more challenged here. IMSA North is a college prep with emphasis on math and science . The negative parent comments were left by parents who do not want their child get disciplined. If your child struggles behaviorally and not aiming to go to a college, IMSA North is not a good fit for you. Go visit the school before you make a decision!
Correct the problem, remove some administrators and teachers that create fear and attitude due to the bullying and bring in administrators and teachers with passion and a desire to teach. You should not have to bully or threaten a kid to learn by yelling all day, taking their gym from them or put them on cafeteria clean up duty because a few kids are being disruptive. I am really surprised no one has called child protective services or the board of education to review the complaints. The students should all enjoy learning but IMSA North makes it hard when you have administrators and teaches that does not enjoy teaching and tell them they are bad and are failing anyway. Not a positive atmosphere for a child yet alone an adult to be in. Prisoners are treated better. We are currently looking for another school for them or try the K-12 to finish this school year and go back to a township school. Parents please talk to your kids every night to see what is going on and how it affects them.
Overcrowded classrooms, buses and cafeterias are not a part of the criteria that great schools use in determining a school ranking. Also, if you watch some of the resources that great schools provide, a lower ranked school may be a better fit for your child. If a bus is overcrowded, take your child to school, as you would have to do at most charter schools. They offer very few buses at satellite locations....what do you expect? I would agree that the building is not currently set up to expand, but I'm sure once they get the other building complete, everything will fall in place. My child used to attend a township school and 34 kid in a class is a lot more than 22, which he currently has. If a child is performing well academically and socially, then great schools ranking shouldn't be given too much weight.
I usually don't post on these but I felt compelled to inform smart parents that do their research on the reality of this school. Interesting that some parent's comments say this is a great school when they rank 3 out of 10 on the Great Schools list! The administration at this school is terrible, to say the least. As a concerned parent, when I addressed the school's administration they didn't even bother to respond.....this is a problem!!! This school probably had good intentions and they have "some" good teachers, but they are not equipped to handle the growing needs of a charter school. Overcrowded classrooms, cafeteria, and buses. And yes, I too have filed complaints about the buses, but did not get a response. So I will be taking it up a level. They need a complete overhaul. Parents - do yourselves and your kids a favor and do your research. Please don't make the same mistake we did. We are actively looking for a new school for our children.
This school has embraced my grandchildren with a sincere focus on the quality of their education. It is providing them the tools and resources needed to be a successful achiever. I am very impressed with how they are teaching children about self respect, discipline and being the best they can be. This was the best decision I could have made regarding their education. They have a color code system that keeps the child apprised of their behavior and expectations in the classroom. My kids love this school.
This is truly one of the best schools that I have ever dealt with. My three children THRIVE here. My children have attended this school since it opened and we have been extremely impressed with both the teachers and administration. I read the other reviews that say derogatory things about discipline and the like. All I can say is that your kids must be troublemakers and are probably getting the discipline that they do not receive at home. My children are extremely well behaved and have never had issue with any discipline, either towards them or towards others. This is a school setting where your child can thrive if they (and you, the PARENT) have the right attitude. The teachers are amazing and always helpful. I have reached out to teachers and staff many times and always receive timely assistance. Not to mention, how many other schools have music programs downtown at the Athenaeum? None that I know of. There is also amazing access to technology and every classroom that I have seen has a smartboard. Give it a shot, parents. You might just need to expect a little bit out of yourself and your children but the benefits are great!
As a student, IMSA has been an eye-opening experience for me. I have been attending IMSA-North for the four years since it has been opened and it has really blossomed to my needs and other s needs. Currently, we are studying in a state of the art science room which has been awesome to experience. I have also been in their high ability program, where we learn Pre-Algebra math instead of 7th grade math and for reading, we read 8th or high school level novels. I have had many opportunities at this school including, IMP (Ivy League Mentorship Program), STEM program, Math Con, Math Olympiad, CONSEF, Math League, Science Fair, and Spelling Bee, which I have gotten 3rd place or better in. We as a school do many, many things to help both the students and the teachers including, out of town field trips to Columbus, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Cleveland, we go roller skating, take university trips, and most important, US STUDENTS GET TO STUDY ABROAD IN TURKEY!!!! (Beat that other schools!) In conclusion, this has been the BEST school I have ever been there because the staff treats you as a part of their family.
IMSA North is a good school. My son had the opportunity to study abroad (Turkey) this pass summer(May-June 2013). He has travelled abroad before with our family, but never "alone" (without the family). The students who took part in this study trip represented Concept Schools from different states as well as different grade levels. This was a great experience and opportunity for him as well as all the young people in attendance. He learned a lot and had a good time too. This experience helped him grow socially and academically. It also helped him to experience another culture, form friendships and establish connections with his peers from all around the world. I'm glad he was given the opportunity, and I'm glad that I (we) were open minded to allow him to go. Again, thanks IMSA North for all that you do.
The school recently hosted Back to School night. While there were a large number of people present everything ran very smoothly. I am excited to be part of IMSA North for the 2013-2014 school year.
This is a TERRIBLE school!!! They have NO technology and very limited space. The gymnasium is as big as my bathroom!! This school is more focused on discipline than education which makes it difficult for students who DON'T have disciplinary problems to get a quality education. The dean of students is VERY condescending and talks down to parents. He also makes derogatory comments ABOUT parents to the students. The curriculum is not as exemplary as they would have you believe, and the staff is less than stellar! They are very rude to both parents AND students and are not at all helpful. There needs to be more effort put into education WELL BEHAVED students and less time focusing on the bad apples.
I pulled my daughter out of her IPS school when she came home and told me that the teacher had left the class unattended for 20 minutes. She would also come home and day after day tell me about how the class was so disruptive and how the teacher did nothing. After her first day at IMSA she came home and told me that she never wanted to go to an IPS school again. She said her classes were quiet, small and the teachers never had to yell at people. This last year she cried when her science teacher left, something that never happened when she attended IPS. I am quite happy with their after school tutoring program as well. Free help to the kids from their own teachers. IMSA is a fantastic school!
I have my two children at this school and they absolutely love it. The teachers are definitely going the extra mile to help students better and my kids have achieved a tremendous growth since school started especially in Math and Language arts. I love the high ability classes and Ivy League program. Yes it is a strict school and I have no complaints about that. I am sending my kids to get an education not to be day cared.
Paretnts beware...Do not waste your time. EVERYTHING THAT GILTTERS IS NOT GOLD...Many parents are removing their kids from this school.
My child has attending IMSA North for three years and I have been very satisfied with the teachers, academics and the administration. My child has been able to grow above grade level in both Language Arts and Math and continues to grow in character and confidence thanks to the hard work and dedication of the facality and staff at IMSA North.
