Connections Academy is an excellent program. This year my daughter has built confidence, made friends, and felt academically challenged. The teachers are outstanding!!

The teachers at Indiana Connections Academy are amazing! The teachers are always there, ready to help. The school has an assortment of classes and extra curricular activities to enroll your child in. Very many kids have excelled in learning, social skills, time management, and so many more things they will need to take to college with them. Right from middle school, this school teaches their kids about college, and even sometimes prepares them for certain things in college. It's not only a great school, but it also prepares high school students for college, as well of middle school students for high school.

Great school! I would like to add some things after reading the comments below. My daughter (3rd grader) went here last year and we did recieve regular books that any public schooler would get and lots of extras like things to do the science experiments with, novels, yoga dvd, and jump rope for pe. The live lessons (video chat teaching sessions) with the teacher were extremely helpful in backing up the lessons I was working on with her. The teacher was constantly reachable by phone or email and even took extra time with students at the end of live lessons as nescessary. Although it is a lot of work (for the parent), I highly recommend CA for any student.

I love Connections Academy. It is the perfect fit for me. They have so many Honors and AP (Advanced Placement) courses, it's just great. I can t believe some of the other reviewers said it wasn't for gifted students, because I am living proof that it is. My teachers were great and they made sure I had what I needed. Also, they have a variety of clubs that are just great. Not to mention, this is one of the only free online schools in Indiana.

This school is not a good fit if you have a child that is intelligent. School does not work with parents for course placement. Does not offer a variety of courses. Public school mentality hidden behind an online setting.

This is just public school online. No more. No less. Underwhelming. Not a good fit for gifted children.

We started CA this year. My high school-aged student loves it. I wish they would send paper books instead of forcing her to do everything online and so does she, but other than that, she seems to be getting an excellent education. Teachers are helpful and concerned. Curriculum is challenging. Grading system is fair, but challenging. So far, we love it. If they sent textbooks, I would up their score to a 5.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
