My daughter attended grades K-7 at the same school. The longer she went, the worse conditions got. The school was turning into a breeding ground for fights and total chaos. The best thing I could ever have done for her was switch to Shortridge Law&Public Policy Magnet High School. She is enjoying her education again. The school is clean and bright and the staff is warm and welcoming. I finally feel safe leaving her at school again! Community involvement is a key part of the school's draw. Lots of stuff for the kids to do to help others in the neighborhood! I couldnt have made a better choice for my daughter than Shortridge!

All IPS schools should be taken over by the state.Since the children's well-being is last on thier list of concerns. It is so clique orienated that good teachers are black listed and pursicuted .When in all reality these students should be failed and held back. A teacher would lose thier job for doing this. Bottom line IPS will continue to struggle until the state takes over.

I found this school full of dedicated teachers and staff who all looked out for the well being of my children. I feel Shortridge is as sound academically as a Public School can be.

The principals don't seem to care to stop fighting and aggression. I don't feel safe w/ my children going to this school. The teachers are awesome and do a wonderful job, but their hands are tied because of discipline issues.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Indiana used the End-of-Course (ECA) assessment to test students in middle and high school in Algebra I, Biology I, and English 10. The ECA is a criterion-referenced assessment developed specifically for students completing their instruction in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

About the tests

Indiana uses the A through F School Grading System to assess the overall performance of a school. In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
