As an educator at Crestview Elementary School, I am proud to be a part of the fine learning environment of our school. Teachers, Faculty, and parents are very supportive and dedicate themselves to continually improving the academic and behavioral success of our students. I challenge all parents to come visit and see the positive, everchanging learning environment within the school. Please take a tour with our principal, Mrs. Kim Brown, and let her share how Crestview has evolved!

My interaction with Crestview came as an educator and a grandparent outside of the state of Indiana. My grandchild was in the fourth grade. His teacher had his mother's permission to make contact with me and she did. It was a wonderful year of collaborating about the educational needs of one of her students. I have no complaints. If he needed extra help, incentives or even funding for activities his father's family was there. I do recommend to all parents/guardians stay involved with your child(children) educational facility. Let them know you care by volunteering your time or at least make sure you work with your children as far their school work is concerned. When a child says 'I have no homework' there is always review over that day or weeks lessons learned. Be there in all respects for your children. Teachers/Schools can't do it alone. We need you!

Crestview was nominated an unprecidented 3 times by education entities for excelence in reading instruction. They will be featured in the Indiana Department of Education's annual report to represent quality reading practices.

I love Crestview Elementary! My daughter attended there for all five years. She is now in eighth grade at Fall Creek Valley where she is in all TD (advanced) classes. She also scored Pass+ in both math and language on the ISTEP tests. In addition to the great academic preparation she received at Crestview, she was also immersed in a diverse population which helped her develop qualities of acceptance and understanding of all people. I would not have wanted my daughter to attend anywhere else but Crestview!

I am over-all dissappointed in this school. While I like my daoughter's 1st grade teacher, I am disappointed in the test scores of this school, 2nd to last in the district. Also, my daughter's class did not take a single field trip last year.

I am certainly disappointed in Crestview Elementary School. The school is not parent-friendly. Parents can't come and observe their children in class without making an appointment with the teacher first. Teachers and even administration are discourteous with parents. I have observed this first hand.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

Above
average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
