I think LC rocks and I like how they teach anad how the teachers are willing to help students are are sincer about it...i may just be a freashman and it may only be a couple of weeks into the 2nd semester but im telling you it's a great school and they really care about our saftey and well-being and our educations....
I graduated from LC in 1968. My two oldest children graduated in 87 and 93. I have a child in 10th at the present. I have remained living in Lawrence because of the school system. They do their very best to see that EACH student graduates. Some of the parents need to go back to being parents and HELP the schools to see that their children succeed. Sure there are times you don't agree with every teacher, but could you do a better job? Personally I think Lawrence Central is still a first rate school on all counts!
Great sport band choir and color guard, clubs and young life
The counselors made sure my daughter had the best possible chance of succeding through her four years at LC. And she did! She graduated with the IB diploma and went on to Rose-H. Institute!
I attended Lawrence Central from 2003 to 2006, and am glad to be done. Yes, there are good teachers, and the school's curriculum prepared me very well for college, but my overall experience was disappointing. The administration does a very poor job of enforcing safety and discipline. Also, some of the support staff members are very rude. If you are concerned about your child's safety, I wound not recommend LC.
I am really happy to have graduated two of my kids from this school. It is a very safe and great place to be.
We are ready to graduate our 2nd child from LC and glad to be finished here. Each year, the experience becomes more disappointing. The teachers have become apathetic and unapproachable. Academics are low, extracurricular activities are poorly attended and school spirit is non-existent.
In a school with such a large student body, small % is involved in extracurricular nor is it encouraged. Safety issues are glazed over - there is no such thing as an honest answer in regards to this subject. The quality of education at LC continues to decline every year. It is sad but true that this has become a 2nd rate school. It's an embarrassment to admit this is our school which accounts for the large number of families moving elsewhere.
Although there are many great teachers there are those that show favortism which hurts overall moral in my child's opinion. I also get the feeling that the administration would rather shove problems under the rug or blame the student. It does seem there is some improvement in the counselor's office this year though.
I was a student at Lawrence Central High School from 2000-2002. I can honestly say that Lawrence Central is the best school I have ever attended. The vast majority of my teachers always made sure that their class understood whatever it was they were theaching and always took time out of their schedule to help any student who was have problems whether it concerned school work or not. The school had a very wide selection of subjects to choose from no matter what interested the students and so many extracurricular activities that something was happening at the school almost every single night. I always felt safe in that school where ever I was and most of the students and staff were very friendly. When I moved away and attended a different high school, I found that I missed Lawrence Central and all that it could do for me.
