Wow! Interesting how this school is given a 10 out of 10 here, but on School Digger they give it a ONE out of FIVE. Demographics truly don't look promising.
There are are lot of troublemakers in my child's second grade class and I don't think the teachers and staff can keep up. There is roughly a 28 kid to student ratio which I feel is too high. There needs to be more assistants for the teachers.
We had always heard such wonderful things about Indian Creek, but we haven't seen that in our first year there. Lawrence Township was restructured for the 2010-11 school year, and we haven't been impressed for our 1st grader. There are so many troublemakers in her class (not to mention in the rest of the school) that the teachers and staff can't keep up. They don't appear to have much in the way of consequences and they aren't very effective. We are seriously considering private school for next year.
excellent school. My daughter was lucky to get Mr. Nelson for 4th grade, he is a good teacher. Overall I am very satisfied with Indian Creek.
Our experience with Indian Creek has been a positive one. The student projects have all been interesting and my child is enthusiastic about them. The outdoor lab is a nice extra for the kids to learn from. There are after school clubs the kids can be a part of throughout the year (different art clubs, explorer club, etc.). I am so thankful my child is able to attend such a great school.
Indian Creek is so full of positive energy for intellectual stimulation for the kids, and the parents are the most engaged I've ever seen. The curriculum is rigorous, but the kids don't seem to complain. Its everything a school should be--challenging, engaging, and fun!
Indian Creek has a wonderful curriculum filled with science, math and technology. Students benefit from thoughtful, engaging teachers who truly care about education. The administration works hard to ensure a quality learning environment for all students. The parent body is involved and supportive of the school and it's students.
My son is a first grader at Indian Creek and I have been really impressed with how well he is doing there! He has really taken off with his reading and more importantly he enjoys to read, and he has become really good with math! I feel like his teacher has done a great job preparing these kids for the future. They are even starting a Power Point presentation this month! With no doubt I feel like IC is the best school for my son!
My daugther has done very well at this school in 4 years. Her teachers are great. The pace is much too slow for her, especially in math and science. She is bored a lot. I think the school is much better than the neighboring options but does not live up to my expectations. There are no parent-teacher conferences in the spring and as a result, I am emailing the teacher or stopping by to gather information as it comes up. Again, my daughter has done well here and she will be prepared for middle school in a different district.
I have been an Indian Creek Parent for over 10 years and 3 children. I can't say enough good about this school. The teachers are passionate and creative, and the administration seems to support the teachers without getting the way. Some examples - Pioneer week is a fourth grde activity to support learning about Indiana history. It is interactive curriculum that includes a lot of time in the schools outdoor lab which includes a log cabin, a covered wagon and a pond. Valley Forge Day supports fifth grade's study of the Revolutionary War. The students all becomes inductees into Washingtons Army and rotate through 7 stations throughout the day. Professional re-enactors and volunteer parents help make this a realistic glimpse into what Washingtons soldiers must have felt. It is a great school. This is our last year, and the whole family will miss being part of Indian Creek
