Moving to Indianapolis

Hi, my husband was offered a job in Indianapolis a while back and now we have finalised the logistics of moving we are looking into houses. I have done research on the internet and my husband has been up to Indy house hunting as well but I am trying to get as many opinions as possible. What area/neighbourhood would be best in Indianapolis for raising a family and in particular have good schools?
According to this website good schools in Indianapolis seem to be few and far between but I'm sure there are people who are very happy with their school district in Indianapolis. Obviously we would want the neighbourhood to be safe and family friendly but are not too bothered at this stage about the location as long as it is in Indianapolis!

If you've already used the resources here at GreatSchools, you know which schools have great parent reviews and test scores.
The next thing to do is talk to the real estate professionals in the area. They'll be well versed in the highly sought after neighborhoods that people seek to raise a family and contain all the amenities you'll need.
Also check with the HR department at your husband's new job. Ask to speak to some of the employees with children the ages of your kids. You'll get first hand info on commute times, school and afterschool activities, and much more.

My children go to Southport schools. I recommend that you avoid Southport schools. There are some nice neighborhoods, but the schools are some of the worst in Indianapolis. Franklin Township seems to be better, but the property taxes are high. Center Grove is my recommendation. I wish that I had moved there.78797
