I did NOT like this school! This school is not a good school for ethnic students, especially African American students. There are no African American teachers there who can identify with an African American student. My son attended this school last school year (2010-2011) and during Black History Month the only African American figure that they spoke about was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! There are so many more African American figures who contributed to this country, such as Fredrick Douglas, George Washington Carver, Benjamin Banneker, the list can go on and on. Yet he never heard about any of them. I feel that in order to be an excellent school, they must first broaden their horizons, and get off of the ways of the past where the caucasion is superior in ALL formats because that is no longer true. African Americans have evolved, and at this school they are still trying to keep the young black child "in their place."

Maple Crest Middle School has been a good school for my son. He is a special needs student, and his teachers have been very good about adapting to my son's needs as identified on his IEP. E-mail communication with the teachers has been excellent, which really helps me to make sure he's keeping up with his class assignments. His paraprofessionals have been active and caring, advocating for modifications of assignments for my son, to ensure he is learning on par with his peers while accommodating the most significant areas of his disability. Overall, I am pleased with is education at Maple Crest, and I am confident he will be prepared for high school next year.

The Principal has problems disciplining the kids fast enough. Especially for their behavior on the school busses. A lot of the teachers don't even grade worksheet papers. Just give the kids and A for doing it.
