I love working at St. Lawrence. The staff is a nice mix of young and experienced teachers working collaboratively to create a strong community of learners. The students are comfortable, caring, and cooperative. We are a blessed family.

My children have been attending St. Lawrence since 2000 and we love it. St. Lawrence has provided our children with a faith-based education that will be invaluable to them in the future.

My wife and I moved our family to Hidden Valley Lake in 2000 when my oldest son was in second grade. We re-located here from Cincinnati for the purpose of sending our three children to St Lawrence. Today my daughter, our youngest, is a sixth grader at St Lawrence and we could not be happier with the value system, the quality of education, and the sense of community that being a part of this school / parish family brings us every day.

St. Lawrence is an exceptional Catholic grade school! Our average class size is 18 and we are making strides to integrate technology into the classroom. Our teachers are extremely dedicated and go way above and beyond their duties. They are always willing to help the students succeed even if that means giving extra help beyond the norm. Our students are taught that service is an important aspect of the Catholic faith and are given many opportunities to participate in service activities even in the younger grades. Great Teachers, staff, parents, students! Small classroom sizes make a huge difference in helping each child meet their potential - even those with learning differences. Great mix of discipline and compassion. Uniforms make the mornings so much smoother and are less expensive. The local high schools say they can always pick out a St. Lawrence student because of the work ethic and study habits they exhibit in the classroom. Requiring the older students to perform 'service hours' as part of their religion classes helps kids know and understand the importance of helping and serving others. This school helps build character and quality traits that will last a lifetime!

Our family moved to St. Lawrence this year. We have been so impressed with the small community and the attention to each child's needs. The children are taught how to learn...not to just to memorize facts. The staff works together to teach respect and to build character. Aside from limited bussing and varied start times for the different grades, we have had a great experience. Our family looks forward to many years at St. Lawrence!

St. Lawrence is a wonderful school! The teachers are caring and challenge their students to do well. It provides a good Christian environment in which kids learn about the Catholic faith.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
