Both of my sons attended columbia middle school and I have always been satisfied. The only problems we ever had was the favoritism with students that were chosen for sports because of the people their parents knew. The eighth grade math teacher is not very good at explaining things to children that doesn't catch on easily. Doing there homework together on the board isn't exactly the easiest way to pass a test. Overall though I really felt safe with my children attending this school.

Great School! I have had many interactions with both faculty and staff. They are some of the most kid friendly educators I have ever met. I had no qualms sending my child there in 6th grade when we lived in the town. I knew they had high expectations for their students. They expected the best and would only accept the best the student could do. . I guess some parentsjust expected the teaches to accept poor academic and personal behavior from the children. However, they would not. The parent who complained about ISTp testing needs to understand that the students have spent 5 or 6 years of academic time4 in elementary schools, so their test scores show this background. That is what the teachers must work with. As long as parents have high expectations, this is the school for you !

I'm a parent of a CMS student, and this school is on probation, the ISTEP scores keep dropping year after year. Run from this school as fast asyou can! The staff and admin aren't parent friendly, and parents are treated as intruders. Our newly formed PTA isn't even alllowed to meet at the school! (The principal doesn't approve of the PTA). Be warned-they spend so much time reviewing for ISTEP that they don't complete the curriculum for the year! <inus 5 stars from me!

The academic programs Columbia provides are top rate. The school provides a wonderful music department. This year the Academic Super Bowl Science team placed third in their division! This just go to show how well the children of this school learn. They offer many sports, and clubs after school. The parent teacher conferences involed the students by having them come to the meeting and telling you about what has been going on with the teacher. I could not ask for a better staff to teach my children.

My middle school years were some of the best! Though I never would have made it through without the staff at Columbia. I love them all like family. They were always tring to make sure that everything was going great. They thought about me and my grades as much as my parents. For that I thank them!
