Both of my kids graduated from LHS. My daughter is an honor student in Purdue's engineering program, and my son now owns his own business after graduating with honors from Purdue also. Without the preparation from LHS, neither of my children would be so successful. I always felt tremendous support from LHS and TriCreek. School is a dual effort: It starts at home, ends at home, and school can't make up for lack of parenting or leadership that parents needs to exhibit.

I personally feel that the qaulity of Lowell's education is extremely poor. The teachers lack common experience with the students and do not seem to really care. The actual administration of Tri Creek, as a whole, is even worse. If I had the choice, I would NEVER sends my kids to LHS.

I believe that overall Lowell High School is going to become a nice school although at the current time the construction is in progress making it hard for us to appriciate our school. I think that the honors and langauage teachers are phenomenal, but the math program at Lowell needs work.

The principal is new so I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. For whatever reason there on line reporting of your childs progress is a great tool however the updating of the site lafs by as much as 2 weeks at times. Administrative people adhere to a zero tolernce policy without any common sense. Overall atmosphere seems like they just are interested in doing what they are required to do without much extra.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the End-of-Course (ECA) assessment to test students in middle and high school in Algebra I, Biology I, and English 10. The ECA is a criterion-referenced assessment developed specifically for students completing their instruction in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
