I was a student, and I absolutely hated this school. I moved as soon as I could.

Posted December 20, 2009

I am a student at CCHS and I've found that the school focuses more on its athletics than the student education. If you are not involved in sports, you aren't really anything as far as CCHS is concerned. Although there are many unsatisfactory rituals here at Crawford, the teachers are overall pretty great and very commited. The after school program PACK is exremely helpful for those who need extra help on homework or test preparation. CCHS would be even better if the focus would be more on its education than just athletics.

I am an athletics coach at Crawford and would have to say that the academics seem to be lagging from what I have experienced at other schools. The sports programs are supported and well taken care of. So depending on the priorities that you have this school could be for you. I personally will never allow my children to attend this school unless serious changes are made to the academics.

I give this school three out of five stars because in the past it would have only gotten one, possibly none. I am a student at Crawford County high, and in the former years before Mr. Moe, our school was crappy. Now, it is beginning to get better. The former years at this school for me consisted of too many teachers caring about last names. I myself do not have a prominent last name so I really didn't matter. But now with out new principle, who doesn't care squat about last names, that has all changed. And I believe in the years to come with Mr. Moe as our principle we could reach those five stars.

Crawford County School should send out more often the grades on there students to those parents who have childen not doing so well. I'm disappointed in the lack of commaction with my son who does'nt do so well other parents do. I don't get any information till its to late. We need better commucation on those who are stuggling.

Crawford County is NOT the best high school - by far. I'm a former student at Crawford Co. High. I hated it so much, I left to find better education. I was bored in all of my classes. They don't present a challenge for anyone, none of the kids are enthusiastic, and only a handful of teachers are willing to help you out. They have a great sports program, but if you're not involved with sports, they don't care jack about you, your grades, or anything you do. Crawford is underfunded, understaffed, and absolutely will not prepare your children for college courses. Just save yourself and your children... enroll somewhere else.

This is a horrible school district to deal with if you are a non-custodial father. The teachers will try to keep you as uninformed as possible, and forget about children needing both parents, especially if you don't agree with putting your child on ADHD medication.

I'm not really a parent I'm a former student. I loved this school. Most kids that went here didn't like it though.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

About the tests

Indiana uses the A through F School Grading System to assess the overall performance of a school. For the 2011-2012 school year, schools were graded based on performance and participation levels in state standardized tests and student growth using the Indiana Growth Model. In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
