North Newton had quality teachers when I went through from 2000-2004. Teachers like Mr. Geesa, Ms. Combs, and Ms. Ackerman greatly influnced me during my years there. I feel successfull in the military today because of the guidance I received from this school.

This school has been a severe disappointment. The lack of central leadership is one of the most pressing problems. In this power vaccuum no one is quite sure who is in charge. The super is very involved with athletics but he is not local and does not do the budget. The principal has been very good for discipline and school spirit but does not know curriculum. Parents are often said to run the building through pressure on administration and school board, however there is a good ol' boy system in place with antiquated politics- if you are not from Newton County, stay out of Newton County. This is not an ideal place for transfer students, coaches, or first year teachers.

I, as a parent, would like to be more involved in the school system. I always feel comfortable and welcomed at both the high school and grade school. Also, I know that if I have any issues that they will be taken care of in an orderly fashion. I think North Newton has a lot to offer, the children just have to want seek the offers out. Many of the teachers are just wonderful and caring. For example, Ms. McDivit is an outstanding English teacher, Mrs Norris is an outstanding biology teacher. Mrs. Petri is an excellent math teacher. These are just a few off the top of my head. These teachers take the time to explain things and welcome children taking advantage of their help.

This is school is full of great teachers but lacking safety as well as diversity. As a former student I witnessed several attacks on fellow students as far as student on student vilence within the instructors view. I have noticed discimination from the school board and administration. If you are not white you'd better stay where you are. I have also noticed that the new istep average scores doesnt even have a minority catagorie but instead has a catagorie for White! I'm not of the minority but find it interesting how closeminded North West,Indiana is and how school corps like North Newton High school ignores subjects of this matter.

As A graduate of North Newton in 2002 I can proadly say that I was given a quality education that prepared me for the challenges and daily routines of life in the working world.
