My daughter attended this school from first grade until the beginning of fourth grade, when we had to move unexpectedly. The wonderful staff have ALWAYS been so supportive and truly take the time to get to know each of the children. Under the wonderful guidance of the principa, Lucy McGrayel, this school shines above the rest! I hope to move back in the area soon so my daughter may resume going to such a wonderful school.
Van Buren has been wonderful for my daughter so far. I have found the staff to be professional and genuinely concerned about the progress of the students. Lucy is wonderful and very approachable weather the issues are good or bad. I feel very fortunate to be able to send my daughter to a safe and nurturing school.
I love the teachers at Van Buren and Lucy the principle. The staff is wonderful. However, they are very leanant against bullying . I think Van Buren needs to be more strict with their disciplinary actions and be more firm with the bullies and unethical behavior of bus drivers that call students names where they can hear them, and inforces no discipline on the school bus, it's left up to poor Lucy, the principal.
