My daughter has been at Green Valley since kindergarten she is now in 4th there we are extremely happy with teachers, staff and her peers. She ha excelled greatly. She has been on straight A honor roll since she started receiving grades(they use the E, G, S and U system till 3rd). The teachers, and staff are all very helpful and friendly. They are also very open to parent involvement in the classroom and out. Out of all the elementary schools in Floyd county that I have been associated with whether it was my brother or nieces Green Valley far exceeds them all. Over all I am very satisfied.

My daughter went there for a year and a half. She enjoyed the experince. I have also enjoyed my daughter going there. They have school sports that compete against other Floyd County Elemantrys. She was in cheerleading and loved it. She also made strait A's. The teachers there taught her so much. When we moved she was 1 step ahead of the BISD students. I recomend this place to anyone.

My child has attended this school for the second year in a row. I am very unhappy with the education my child is receiving. I would never recommend this elementary to any parent. The level of academics is poor and my child has not excelled in any way. The teachers do not go out of their way to help in assisting students not understanding a course, etc. I have felt that the teachers seem to act more as a strict, unfriendly college professor, rather than a nice & helpful elementary teacher.I would not recommend any Floyd County School, definately spend the extra money to send your child to a private school where they will get the education they need for their future. As I will be next year!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
