Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son is just finishing up his Kindergarten year at Sawmill and I have been very impressed with the school. His teacher has been absolutely wonderful. She maintains open communication with parents and has responded to any concerns quickly. I have volunteered in the classroom on several occassions and have watched her work very well with the students, engaging them and working with different groups that learn at different speeds. There was individual time spent with students who needed more personal assistance and continued challenges for those that were doing well in the lessons. My son has been reading at the first grade level for over half the year now as she helps him continue to advance his skills instead of him sitting bored in class. I am so glad that we moved school districts, and I look forward to another year at Sawmill!

My children have been in the Clark-Pleasant school system for five years now. My daughter attended Samill Woods 4 years ago and now attends Clark Pleasant Intermediate and my son is in kindergarten at Sawmill this year. Both of my children absolutely love/loved the teachers and staff at Sawmill. My son is progressing well and has started his first grade popcorn words. His teacher seems very equipped to handle those who are bright and those who need extra help. The teachers and principal seem to really care about each student and make them feel special. My daughter was excited to have her kindergarten teacher remember her and her name when we took my son in for kindergarten orientation. Very pleased with this school and the entire school system!

My Child used to love classes. Pre-school, Library, Science Camps, but know he says he hates school. When asked why? "Slow, boring and too many supid tests." He tests very high and that is exactly the problem. Not a good place for a bright kid. If I had to do some of the repetitive things he has to do, I would hate school too! He does addition into the thousands and had me teach him some division of multiple digit numbers because at class they are woring on counting and number recognition.

The overpopulation is due to Urban Sprawl as the community is growing by leaps & bounds. There is a new elementary being built to help with the ever increasing population. As far as the school and child development, the teachers and staff are great. The PTO is active and we do a number of social events. Parent/Teacher involvement early on is key. Working with the teacher to see where your child needs extra help and then making an action plan to move forward is what we have done with great success and it benefits all - teacher, child, parent. I love the atmosphere at Sawmill and my children love to go there. They have their favorite teachers and they remember the kids and continue to encourage their learning and development.

This school is way over populated! So over populated that the teachers can not handel all the children. If your child is below grade level this is deffinatley the wrong school to look to for help! I have 4 children that go here, 2 kindergarden and 2 first grade.
