RFS is an environment where kids can learn as individuals, being challenged just enough, but never left behind. The low student-teacher ratio allows for this individualized work. It is a warm and accepting atmosphere that nurtures the whole child, not just academically. It is family-oriented, heavy on incorporating physical activity, nature/outdoors, green living, field trips and other hands-on learning, service in the community, and kindness to others. We love it!
The classroom lessons for the younger children are engaging and hands on. The children seem very happy and are able to work well in an enviroment where the student-teacher ratio is approximately 7-1. This type of setting makes the studnets less afraid of speaking up and offering their thoughts in questions raised by either other students or the teacher.
